Open-package test

This test is intended to detect channels, open pathways, or discontinuity in a sealed area specified as a critical primary barrier. Pinholes in nonporous materials are also detected. This method is suitable for both flexible and rigid packages and with porous and nonporous materials.

As part of their testing program, the authors exposed sulfonamide tablets and tablets containing the dye D C Orange No, 3 and a benzothiazine derivative, in an open dish and packaged in amber glass containers. The samples stored in the amber bottles showed little photo deterioration with time. This confirmed Arny et al. conclusion regarding the use of amber bottles for photo protection (24). 

Botek and Champagne171 have devised and implemented a semi-empirical TDUHF scheme based on the AMI hamiltonian in the MOPAC 2000 package. The procedure has been tested on some standard small and medium sized open shell molecular systems. There are discrepancies with good ab initio calculations on the small systems, but it is hoped that the procedure may be of use for larger open shell molecules.
