In the UK, the OK Compost Home scheme was adopted by the Association for Organics Recycling (AfOR) in 2011. More information can be found at http //wivw. organics-recycling, org. uk/category.php category=991 name= Certifica tion. 

Furthermore, in the USA, the OK Compost Home scheme has been taken over by the Sustainable Biomaterials Collaborative for their specifications on home compostability. In 2011, OK Compost Home was referred to in Californian state legislation. 

In the UK, the lack of industrial composting infrastructures has promoted the compliance of bags with home composting standards such as OK Compost Home developed by Vingotte. 

In June 2005, Mater-Bi polymers were issued with the OK home compost certificate from Belgium s AIB Vincotte international certification institute meaning that it can be used in bags for the recycling of biodegradable organic waste in home compost bins. 

NatureFlex film is available for lidding in a heat sealable bag or wrap format. This material is certified compostable to the European OK Home Compost standard as well as to ASTM D6400 and by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI). 

AIB-Vingotte International has a biodegradable home compost test certification for plastic products that references EN 13432 performance specification and other ISO biodegradable test methods. Biodegradation in soil environments is based on International OK Biodegradable Soil standards. Table 8.7 lists the biodegradation standards for home composing.
