Underreamer Hydraulics. Pressure losses across the underreamer nozzles (orifice) are shown in Figures 4-178 and 4-179 [58]. The shaded area represents the recommended pressure drop required for cutters to fully open. These pressure drop graphs can be used for pressure losses calculations (given pump output and nozzles) or for orifice (nozzle) selection (given pump output and pressure loss required).

Atomizing and pattern air needs are dependent on the application. Spray guns should be selected based on their applicability at the required spray rate. The equipment manufacturer or equipment specifications can be consulted for guidance on nozzle selection. Optimum atomizing and pattern air settings take into account the following factors ... 

Nozzle selection for the liquid sprays is dependent on the nature of the liquid to be sprayed (e.g., its viscosity), the level of liquid required in the final product, how it interacts with the final product. 

Bond strengths have been measured for the APS chromium oxides, and a study of the effects of various spray parameters (powder composition, powder feed gas, powder feed rate, spray velocity and gun/nozzle selection) has been completed (see previous reports). Property measurements (microhardness, tensile strength and elastic modulus at room temperature and 320 C, thermal expansion coefficient from 25 - 540microstructural characterization of the UTRC coatings have been completed. 

In the unlikely event that the RHR shutdown suction line is unavailable during reactor shutdown to cool reactor water and during the period when the LPCI function of the RHR system and/or the LPCS system pumps are injecting water into the reactor vessel, safety/relief valves used for automatic depressurization can be used to pass water from the reactor vessel to the suppression pool via valve discharge lines. For this to occur, the reactor vessel floods to a level above the vessel main steam line nozzles, selected safety/relief valves are opened from the control room to pass reactor water to the suppression pool.

Calibration for dose, water volume and drop size is now much easier to achieve. Nozzle selection guides help select most appropriate types and tractors - or prime mover - more readily attain, hold and record - spraying speeds. Electronic monitors can record total spray liquid emission, volumes of product used as well as the area treated and when. GPS based systems are recording where the product has been applied many developments that make PPP use fully accountable and traceable [Fig 5].
