Nordtest method

Nordtest has analysed and developed test methods for over 20 years and presently there are over 1250 Nordtest methods in 15 different technical areas. More than 520 of these methods have been developed in Nordtest projects while the rest are adopted and recommended for use by Nordtest. All test methods are listed in the Nordtest Register of Test Methods [1], Requirements for test methods as well as the way they are developed are ever-... [Pg.167]

There are, however, few reports which deal with all parts of the development process. In Nordtest technical report 403, Observing validation, uncertainty determination and traceability in developing Nordtest test methods [5], the issues mentioned above are analysed and suggestions of how to handle them are made. The analysis is not only limited to Nordtest methods but is generally valid for all types of test methods, e.g. in-house methods developed at one laboratory or international standards used world-wide. [Pg.167]

Initially, Wolkoff et al. (1991) developed a testing protocol for the FLEC cell. Later, a Nordtest method for laboratory measurements was approved (Nordtest, 1995). This Nordtest method mainly deals with the FLEC as a testing device for the determination of VOCs at standard climate and using adsorbent tubes intended for analysis by GC. Trade standards describing materials sampling etc. have been developed for specific products like paints (SVEFF, 1997) and flooring materials (GBR 1992a, GBR... [Pg.145]

In a joint research project in Sweden under the main title "Fire hazard - Fire growth in compartments in the early stage of development (pre-flashover)" (1, 2) a number of different factors have been studied. In the process of developing a full-scale fire test method - "room-corner" configuration - for surface lining materials, Nordtest NT-FIRE 025, the emission of smoke and gas was studied. That study covers data from thirteen different single and... [Pg.35]

In an ideal situation the parameters used to define furniture should be ignition resistance and the rate of generation of heat, smoke and toxic gases. Tests to do this with actual or mock-up full sized furniture are not yet available as final specifications but the Nordtest (28) and NBS furniture calorimeters (29) represent scientific methods while room/ corridor rigs, typically UK DOE PSA FR5 and 6 of 1976 (5) (6) were originally used but are less satisfactory from a scientific point of view. The Californian (30) and Boston tests (31) for public area furniture are essentially simple room tests and are similar in principle to DOE, PSA, FR5 and 6 although the latter do not have pass/fail criteria. Bench scale rate of heat release tests include the NBS cone (29) which, with a code of practice represent a possible alternative but the rate of burning of... [Pg.513]
