This chapter is devoted to three groups of nitrogenous products, lacking, perhaps, obvious community of structure and distribution. Nonetheless, in a biosynthetic context they may profitably be held together, hopefully bringing to the fore a remarkable limitation in fundamental metabolic reaction types utilized in assembling a multitude of diverse and by simple inspection not obviously related structures. [Pg.71]

Strong emphasis is placed on products from hi er plants, almost to the extent of exclusion of constituents from other natural sources. The delineation from alkaloids is obscure.
