The importance of bees in pollination is well known. It may be possible to manipulate wild bees by their sociochemicals to increase pollination. For example, exocrine products from the alfalfa-pollinating alkali bee, Nomia melanderi, may be used to induce increased nesting at artificial sites near alfalfa fields.
