Noise Budget

Good design requires up-front determination of a noise budget, which shonld be included in the product definition requirements. The noise budget is the summation of aU of the dc and ac voltages (or currents) that form a boundary within which the component, assembly, or system is designed to function. [Pg.320]

The dc noise budget consists of the voltage settings (preset) of the power supplies, the operating tolerance of the power supply, and the series dc voltage drops of the voltage distribution... [Pg.320]

The ac noise budget consists of the effectiveness of the local bypass capacitor, the amount of decoupling between the load, the bulk decoupling capacitor, and the power distributions system, the local voltage drops in the component s voltage/ground conductors, and the component s input voltage tolerance. [Pg.320]

For digital circuits these three may amount to about 50 to 60 percent of the noise budget. (IR) voltage drop (current Xresistance). [Pg.320]

The sensitivity of forthcoming laser interferometers is limited by seismic noise at low frequencies (from a few hertz to tens of hertz according to the isolation strategy), by thermal noise up to some hundreds of hertz, and by shot noise above. Other sources of noise, however, can contribute to the total noise budget ... [Pg.118]

The total noise budget must be compared to the standard quantum limit. Using the spread Mco Gx in the uncertainty principle, it is possible to deduce the minimum detectable strain ... [Pg.123]

The relevance of systematic errors in the total error budget depends on whether optimistic or conservative error estimates are used. Further studies are needed to attain realistic error estimates and to reduce those error components which may have a contribution larger than noise error. [Pg.344]

The outputs from finite element analysis will tell the chemist many of the important predictive characteristics of the part. The effects of load (stress, strain, and deflection) are measured. Material selection based on strength and part dimensions and tolerances are determined and easily adjusted. The effects of heat (heat transfer and thermal stresses) are determined as well as material selection based on conduction and insulation. Special applications such as bending and vibration characteristics, crashworthiness, fatigue, and noise can be determined. The design requirements, such as expected loads, load cycle cost, mass targets, and budget targets, can be predicted and met with proper application of the FEA tool. [Pg.52]

Bench testing can be a delicate operation and is best accomplished away from the noise and confusion of the production floor. Almost all of the most successful sensor users set aside an area in the tool room to do their testing. The sensor test area may be as simple as a clean bench dedicated to sensor testing or may be as complex as a separate room full of elaborate electronic equipment. Your budget will dictate what kind of equipment your sensor test area is stocked with howe ver, at the bare minimum, you should have the following ... [Pg.363]

OSHA s budget battles Noise policy explained... [Pg.8]

LBVBI 5 - An aggressive buy quief program is in effect. Management provides financial incentives (e.g., budgets are increased up to 10 pacent for purchases of quieter equipment). Noise hazard abatement is an element in the performance standards of procurement personnel. [Pg.40]
