Nitrogen-containing esters, formation

The photoelimination of carbon dioxide from esters and lactones is a process that has been the subject of detailed investigations. Discussion here is limited to nitrogen containing systems. 3,4-Diphenylsydnone (464), on irradiation in benzene, is converted via the nitrile imine 465 into 2,4,5-triphenyl-1,2,3-triazole (466)388 initial bond formation between N-2 and C-4 followed by loss of carbon dioxide to give the diazirine 467 is proposed to account for the formation of the nitrile imine. Nitrile imines generated in this way have been trapped with alkenes and alkynes to give pyrazoles389... [Pg.316]

The reaction of selenoamides and selenourea with aldehydes and ketones has been known to take place via the nucleophilic attack of the selenium atom and end up in the formation of a variety of selenium- and nitrogen-containing heterocycles [99]. For example, selenourea was treated with j0-keto ester in the presence of KOH to give selenouracil (Eq. 27) [100], and its biological activity has been tested [100b]. Very recently, Lewis acid mediated addition of primary selenoamides to a, -unsaturated ketones has been reported to give 1,3-selena-zines (Eq. 28) [99 f]. [Pg.190]

Topics that have formed the subjects of reviews this year include contemporary issues in electron transport research, dynamics of bimolecular photoelectron transfer reactions, photophysical properties of functionalised fullerene derivatives, carbon-carbon bond formation via radical ions, photoinduced electron transfer processes in ketone, aldehyde, and ester synthesis, photochemical reactions between arenenitriles and benzylic donors, photo-oxidation of conjugated dienes, photoredox reactions of aromatic nitro compounds, electron transfer-mediated photochemistry of some unsaturated nitrogen-containing compounds, reactions of 02( Ag), carbon dioxide activation by aza-macrocyclic complexes, and photochromism of chalcone derivatives. ... [Pg.204]

Pd-catalyzed reactions of allylic esters such as aUyl acetates, carbonates, and phosphates with soft carbon nucleophiles such as malonate esters are useful for carbon-carbon bond formation (Sects. V.2.1.1-V.2.1.5). hi this section, Pd-catalyzed substitution reactions of nitrogen-containing allylic derivatives such as allylic amines, ammonium salts, tosylim-ides, and nitro compounds are described (Scheme 1). The allylic derivatives of other group 15 atoms have never been used as allyl unit source in Pd-catalyzed alkylation reactions so far. [Pg.184]
