Nitrogen concentration

Table 8 shows that the naphthas produced by the EDS process have higher concentrations of cycloparaffins and phenols than do petroleum-derived naphthas, whereas the normal paraffins are present in much lower concentrations. The sulfur and nitrogen concentrations in coal naphthas are high compared to those in petroleum naphthas. 

Nitrite can be deterrnined by reaction with sulfanilamide to form the diazo compound, which couples with /V-(1-naphthyl)ethylenediamine dihydrochloride to form an intensely colored red azo dye. Nitrate can be deterrnined in a similar manner after reduction to nitrite. Suitable reducing agents are cadmium filings or hydrazine. This method is useful at a nitrogen concentration of 10 -lO " M. 

The absorption wavelengtlrs quoted here are for the complete dissociation of these molecules to the atoms in their ground state. The thermochemical data also show that a temperature of nearly 4000 K is requhed before the atomic oxygen concentration is equal to that of molecular oxygen, and almost 7000 K for the nitrogen atom population to be equal to the molecular nitrogen concentration, at one atmosphere pressure.

The hydrolysis of urea releases ammonia to the liquid bulk, which can cause inhibition of the methanogenic sludge.21 Nevertheless, these authors found a toxic effect at 1300mg/L N-NH3, this value being higher than the nitrogen concentration of these wastewaters and no inhibitory effects could be expected. 

Subsequently, after about 400 s the nitrogen concentration starts to decrease and, at the same time, evolution of hydrogen in the gas phase and formation of ammonia were observed. Individial filter cake compositions vary widely. As conversion increases, sulfur and ash increase while oxygen and hydrogen and possibly nitrogen concentrations in the filter cakes decrease. The average filter cake yield is 30 weight percent of the as-fed coal. The sulfur in the filter cake averaged 49 percent of the sulfur in the coal feed and is made up of the sulfur remaining after partial pyrite decomposition and sulfate sulfur. 

The difference in mole fractions is most significant in the case of S02 where this difference is 15% of the bulk phase level. Residue HDP is complicated by the quality of the feed high nitrogen concentration, asphaltenes and metals are the complicating factors. A large number of parallel and simultaneous reactions occur, both thermal and catalytic. Besides contributing to conversion, the thermal reactions contribute to coke formation, as well. 

Chlorella zofingensis cells are transferred to a growth medium, with a low nitrogen concentration (10% of normal concentration). After approximately 6-8 wk they develop a red colour, due to the decomposition of chlorophylls and synthesis of secondary carotenoids (stored in lipid droplets within the cytoplasm of the cells). At this stage the chloroplast are intact, although the surface area of thylacoids is mostly reduced.
