Nitrogen blowing agent

While this book does not cover shock-sensitive powders, such as primary explosives, UN-DOT Class 4.1 Flammable Solids are within its scope. These include thermally unstable powders that can both deflagrate in an oxidant and decompose in bulk. Examples include some nitrogen blowing agents. Should ignition occur at any point, a propagating decomposition... [Pg.175]

Use Promoter for azodicarbonamide, a nitrogen blowing agent activator for thiazoles, sulfenam-ides, and thiurams odor reducer when used with nitrosoamine-type blowing agents. [Pg.149]

The thermal conductivity of a cellular polymer can change upon aging under ambient conditions if the gas composition is influenced by such aging. Such a case is evidenced when oxygen or nitrogen diffuses into polyurethane foams that initially have only a fluorocarbon blowing agent in the cells (32,130,143,190,191,198-201). [Pg.414]

The foam effect is achieved by the dispersion of inert gas throughout the molten resin directly before moulding. Introduction of the gas is usually carried out by pre-blending the resin with a chemical blowing agent which releases gas when heated, or by direct injection of the gas (usually nitrogen). When the compressed gas/resin mixture is rapidly injected into the mould cavity, the gas expands explosively and forces the material into all parts of the mould. An internal cellular structure is thus formed within a solid skin. [Pg.9]

Chemical blowing agents undergo decomposition at the vulcanisation temperature to form a gaseous species such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide, e.g., azo compounds, nitroso compounds, sulphonyl hydrazide compounds, ammonium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate and sodium bicarbonate. [Pg.14]

PE extmdates, are combined with physical atmospheric blowing agents, snch as nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide, water and blends thereof, to prodnce nncrossUnked foams having densities as low as 10 kg/cn.cm. [Pg.67]

Siebe Engineering has developed a process for foaming cable insulation without chemical blowing agents. In the Siebe process the melt is foamed by dispersing nitrogen... [Pg.102]
