Silicate nitrate

The banning of calcium chloride during the last decade provided the impetus for the development of alternative materials which accelerated the hydration of cement without the potential for corrosion. A number of inorganic and organic compounds including aluminates, sulfates, formates, thiosulfates, nitrates, silicates, alkali hydroxides, carbonates, nitrites and calcium salts have been evaluated. Commercialization and field experience, however, is limited to only a few of these materials.

Ion exclusion chromatography has been applied to the determination of the following organic compounds and anions ozonisation products, carboxylic acids phosphate, nitrite, nitrate, silicate, bicarbonate, tartrate, malate, malonate, citrate, glycollate, formate and fumarate, arsenite, arsenate, chloride, bromide, iodide, thiocyanate and sulphate carbonate and also the cation arsenic. 

To further the identification of the minor fatty acids in evening primrose oil, methyl esters of fatty acids were separated by column chromatography on a silver nitrate-silicic acid absorbent according to their degree of unsaturation (De Vries, 1963). The data obtained are summarized in Table 4.4 based on identification by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Of the saturated fatty acids, C13 0, C19 0, C21 0 and C23 0 had not been reported previously. A number of monounsaturated fatty acids have been reported previously in EPO... 

Electrolytic conductance, a property of the so called conductors of the second class, is encountered mainly in the case of salts in dissolved, melted and solid state. Among these compounds are sulphates, halides, nitrates, silicates, also many oxides, hydroxides, sulphides and so on. The same group includes also the potential electrolytes, i. e. the substances from which ions are formed only in mutual reaction with a solvent (solutions of acids in basic solvents, solution of bases in acid solvents, further amines and different chlorine derivatives of organic compounds in liquid sulphur dioxide, nitro-compounds in liquid amines etc.). Finally also numerous colloidal solutions (such as proteins and soaps) conduct the current like electrolytes. 

The LED photometer can, therefore, be used for the determination of nitrate, silicate, phosphate, and ammonia with the analyses commonly used for these groups (2, 7).

One of the limitations to the wider use of calcium chloride in reinforced concrete is that, if present in larger amounts, it promotes corrosion of the reinforcement unless suitable precautions are taken. The use of calcium chloride is banned in many countries. There is, hence, a continuing attempt to find an alternative to calcium chloride, one equally effective and economical, but without its limitations. A number of organic and inorganic compoimds including aluminates, sulfates, formates, thiosulfates, nitrates, silicates, alkali hydroxides, carbonates, halides, nitrites, calcium salts of acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, oxalic acid and lactic acid, urea, glyoxal, triethanolamine, and formaldehyde have been suggested. However, practical experience and research on these admixtures are limited. The effect of these compounds on the hydration of individual cement compoimds and cement has been widely studied by thermal analysis techniques.
