Nitrate compound

The nitration of the 2-anilino-4-phenylselenazole (103) is much more complicated. Even careful nitration using the nitrate-sulfuric acid method leads to the formation of a mixture of variously nitrated compounds in an almost violent reaction. By the use of column chromatography as well as thin-layer chromatography a separation could be made, and the compounds could be partly identified by an independent synthesis. Scheme 33 shows a general view of the substances prepared. Ring fission was not obser ed under mild conditions. [Pg.243]

The danger of an explosion of a nitrated product generally increases as the degree of nitration increases, eg, trinitroaromatics are more hazardous as compared to dinitroaromatics or especially mononitroaromatics. Nitroaromatics and some polynitrated paraffins are highly toxic when inhaled or when contacted with the skin. AH nitrated compounds tend to be highly flammable. [Pg.36]

Unloaded silica does not recover HPA from aqueous solution. The surface of silica gel modified with quarternary ammonium salts (QAS) gets anion-exchange properties. The aim of the work is the elaboration of solid-phase reagents on the base of ion associate of HPA with QAS immobilized onto silica surface for the determination of phosphoms and organic reductants. Heterocyclic (safranine and lucigenine) and aliphatic (trinonyloctadecyl ammonium iodide and tetradecyl ammonium nitrate) compounds have been examined as QAS. [Pg.60]

When a mixture of 1-chloro-2-nitrobenzene and ammonia in an aqueous solution was exposed to a temperature of 160-180 C under 30-40 bar, the mixture went out of control and caused the reactor to detonate. Amongst the factors that contributed to this accident were an excess of the nitrated compound, bad cooling and failure of the reactor anti-explosion disk (which did not break). [Pg.302]

When benzo[a]pyrene adsorbed from the vapor phase onto coal fly ash, silica, and alumina was exposed to nitrogen dioxide, no reaction occurred. However, in the presence of nitric acid, nitrated compounds were produced (Yokley et al, 1985). Chlorination of benzo [a] pyrene in polluted humus poor lake water gave ll,12-dichlorobenzo[a]pyrene and 1,11,12-, 3,11,12- or 3,6,11-... [Pg.150]

TRI data on substances released by chemical manufacturers show nitrate compounds topped the list in 1999. They were discharged mainly into surface waters, and another third were injected underground. Second was ammonia, mainly emitted into the air, with some injected underground. Methanol was third mostly into the air. Carbon disulfide was fourth, discharged mainly into the air, and chromium compounds were fifth, disposed on land. The amounts are listed in Table 25.2. [Pg.491]

Herz s Explosives. Patented in 1923 CA 18, 1573-4 (1924) BritP 207563, several compositions, such as ortho-, and para-nitrated quinone diazides of the polymeric phenols or their metallic salts either (1) as a top charge over a main (base) charge such as Tetryl, TNT, or PETN, or (2) in admixtures with other compounds. Following are the primary and nitrating compounds proposed by von Herz ... [Pg.72]

Some fats, oils and waxes have been used as ingredients in explosive compositions, such as plastic explosives. They can also be nitrated to give nitro- or nitrate compounds Refs 1) T.P. Hiditch, "The Chemical Constitution of Natural Fats , Chapman Hall,... [Pg.390]

These alkyl nitrate compounds have been measured in the troposphere and constituted about 1.5% of the total odd nitrogen budget at a rural eastern U.S. site (19). Reaction 16a competes with the oxidation of NO by ozone in the troposphere. [Pg.302]

Effect of the Atmosphere. The composition of radiolysis products depends substantially on the degree of saturation of the irradiated system with oxygen. In a nitrogen atmosphere, the major radiolysis products of the system TBP-diluent-HN03 were alkyl-nitro and -nitrate compounds. However, in the presence of oxygen, the yields of these compounds were sharply reduced, and an accumulation of carbonyl compounds was measured (11, 25). [Pg.447]

After irradiation with 3.3 MGy of a DCH18C6 solution in 1 mol L 1 nitric acid containing 20 g I. of uranyl nitrate, compounds 2 and 4 (presented in Figure 8.15 with their radiolytic yields) were shown to be the main products of radiolysis nevertheless, 50% of DCH18C6 remained unchanged. In these conditions, the disappearance yield G(-DCH18C6) was estimated to be 0.72 molecule/100 eV (7). [Pg.478]
