Nickel(O) reacts with the olefin to form a nickel(0)-olefin complex, which can also coordinate the alkyl aluminum compound via a multicenter bond between the nickel, the aluminum and the a carbon atom of the trialkylaluminum. In a concerted reaction the aluminum and the hydride are transferred to the olefin. In this mechanistic hypothesis the nickel thus mostly serves as a template to bring the olefin and the aluminum compound into close proximity. No free Al-H or Ni-H species is ever formed in the course of the reaction. The adduct of an amine-stabihzed dimethylaluminum hydride and (cyclododecatriene)nickel, whose structure was determined by X-ray crystallography, was considered to serve as a model for this type of mechanism since it shows the hydride bridging the aluminum and alkene-coordinated nickel center [31]. [Pg.52]

Quite a number of silylnickel and silylenenickel compounds have been reported, and only a few can be cited here2305-2309 Bis(silyl)nickel complexes have been implicated as important intermediates in Ni-catalyzed double silylation of various organic substrates. Using an o-bis(dimethylsilyl)carborane ligand, complex (930) could be isolated and structurally characterized 2310 Its unusual thermal stability is attributed to the advantageous steric and electronic properties of the carboranyl unit. (930) undergoes... [Pg.480]

The crystal structures of two nickel-complexes which contain cis.ds-cyclooctadiene as chelate ligands are known (89). For complex formation the 2v -symmetric boat-form is most favourable. The energetical compromise in the complexes is therefore such that the... [Pg.198]

Macrocycles may also promote the formation of less common coordination geometries for particular metal ions because of increased macrocyclic ring strain on coordination. Such an effect is illustrated by the variation in the structures of the nickel complexes of the 14-, 16-, 18-, and 20-mem-bered tropocoronand macrocycles of type (14) (Imajo, Nakanishi,... [Pg.7]

A cyclization reaction involving a half-formed bridge in which alkyl halide functions interact with (initially) coordinated oxygen atoms is illustrated by [2.9] (Kluiber Sasso, 1970). The X-ray structure of the red paramagnetic nickel complex (65) indicates that the macrocycle coordi-... [Pg.31]
