Mr. Wondrich said that he got the idea for rye whiskey dosed with Tabasco sauce from a book of hard-luck stories, Tales of the Ex-Tanks, which purports to be the minutes of the Harlem Club of Former Alcoholic Degenerates, written by Clarence Louis Cullen, a New York Sun reporter, and published in 1900. [Pg.106]

Film samples were exposed to natural weathering conditions on an exposure rack constructed of wooden 2 X 4 s. The samples were mounted directly on a 2 X 4 facing south at an angle of 45° to the horizontal. A measure of the UV light received by the samples was originally obtained from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (ENCON) reports, kindly supplied by Mr. William Delaware of ENCON. These reports included both total sun and sky radiation and UV radiation measured by Eppley radiometers (photometers). The ENCON monitoring station in Schenectady is within four miles of the exposure rack so no appreciable differences in light intensity should be expected. More recently, a UV radiometer has been mounted directly on the exposure rack to obtain more accurate measurements. [Pg.99]

Although most facilities that refine crude petroleum in the United States produce a fuel oil. no. 1 fraction (HSDB 1991), only producers that market fuel oil no. 1 as an end product are listed as commercial manufacturers. These manufacturers include Claiborne Gasoline Company (Claiborne and Union Parish, Louisiana), Continental Oil Company (Acadia Parish, Louisiana), Sun Production Company (Starr County, Texas), Exxon Corporation (Pledger County, Texas), Atlantic Richfield Company (New York, New York), and Shell Oil Company (Houston, Texas) (HSDB 1991). Since fuel oils nos. 1, 1-D, 2, 2-D, and 4, and fuel oil UNSP are not required to be reported under SARA Section 313, there are no data for these fuel oils in the 1990 Toxics Release Inventory (TRI90 1992). [Pg.119]
