Neurocrine

The ontogenesis of the AOS then, is closely bound up with the formation of its principal connection site within the mature brain. The sequence of events in mammals is revealed as a process which involves (1) early specialisation of presumptive GnRH cells (2) their attachment to and movement along specific (and transient) axonal bundles of the VN and N. terminalis tracts, and (3) coalescence of the neurocrine cells in the hypothalamus, where they complete differentiation as multi-axonal neurocrine cells. [Pg.87]

A few studies have directly implicated urinary signals in the neurocrine effects which influence population growth and mediate the effects of crowded (high-density) populations (Chaps. 3 and 5). Prairie voles... [Pg.177]

Indiplon (4) is a nonbenzodiazepine sedative, which was in preregistration for the treatment of insomnia in 2006. Indiplon is a potent GABAa receptor agonist with selectivity for the ai subunit. The compound originated at American Cyanamid and was subsequently developed by Neurocrine Biosciences. [Pg.221]

The first published report on the utilization of the HP 7686 Solution-Phase Synthesizer (Figure 13.1) for lead optimization of corticotropin-releasing factor receptor antagonists appeared in 1996 [13]. Scientists from Neurocrine... [Pg.320]

In a series of nonpeptide corticotropin-releasing factor 1 (CRF1) antagonists, scientists from Neurocrine [16] observed a dramatic change in affinity simply by shifting one nitrogen atom of the pyrimidine ring (Fig. 1.7). [Pg.7]

The plasma membrane is an essential barrier between the intracellular and extracellular fluids. Signaling mechanisms have evolved so that cells may respond to chemical messengers that derive from nerve terminals (neurocrine transmission), endocrine glands (endocrine transmission) or neighboring cells (paracrine transmission). [Pg.185]

For example, the corticotrophin releasing factor (CRF) receptor patent was held by Neurocrine, and development of candidate molecules by others was thereby effectively inhibited. [Pg.60]

Bombesin is a tetradecapeptide isolated from the skin of the amphibian frog Bombina bombina (Anastasi et al, 1971). It has been proposed that bombesin-related peptides may be released from the gastrointestinal tract in response to ingested food, and that they bridge the gut and brain via neurocrine means to inhibit further food intake (Merah et al, 1999). [Pg.335]
