Needle gun

Hand and power tool cleaning is used on ships mostly for spot repair of damaged areas. Hand tools include scrapers, wire bmshes, and sanders. Electric and pneumatic power tools, which include grinders and needle guns, clean faster and more thoroughly than hand tools. Most power tools have vacuum lines coimected to collect paint debris. [Pg.365]

Dreyse, Johann Nicolas von (1787—1867). German gunsmith, inventor of Needle Gun (1836), the first successful turn bolt action breechloader. He was enobled for this invention... [Pg.438]

Cleaning by hand tools is the oldest process. Today this is employed only when power tools are not available and where the surface is inaccessible to power tools and too small. The generally used hand tools are wire brush, scraper blades and chipping hammer and emery or sand paper. Hand held electric or pneumatic power tools for cleaning include sanders, pneumatic scalers, needle gun and rotary steel brushes. [Pg.75]

Chassepot Rifle. A breech-loading rifle invented in 1866 by A.A.Chassepot(1833 1905) and adopted ca 1869 by the Fr forces under the name of "Fusil modele 1866 . It was a bolt-action weapon, which was superior to Ger "needle-gun invented by N.Dreyse ca 1838. Although chassepot had die defect of employing soft paper, self-consuming cartridges, it was used rather successfully during the Fran co-Prussian War of 1870-71. [Pg.549]

The next cartridge with an integral primer was the needle-gun cartridge developed by a Prussian, Johann Nikolas Dreyse, in 1831. In its original form it was made with either a paper or linen envelope and in its later form it was made entirely of paper. It had a flat base and was tied shut above the bullet which was contained in a sabot. There was a recess in the base of the... [Pg.24]

Chasae pot--gun. The breech-loading, center-fire needle-gun of the French service. It was designed as an improvement on the Prussian needle-gun, or tiMsdnadetgtwchr to which it was op iosed in the... [Pg.145]

The Prussian needle-gun (C) is also a bolt-gnn, having an inner bolt which forms the fiting-f in, a sleeve around it, and an outer cylinder. The parts are shown with the needle in its fired position. In preparing to reload, the rear knob is withdrawn, and tne axial bolt retained by a catch which engages a projection, withdrawing the needle. The chamber is then unlocked by the knob and slid back, the cartridge inserted and diiven into the breech by the chamber, which is locked by a partial... [Pg.153]

T 2 are tw o positions of the Ward-Burton gun, which is on the boU principle, like the Prussian needle-gun and the French Chassepot. This gun, in its magazine form, was also recommended for farther trim in the field." This gun, having been fired, is opened by raising the handle a of the bolt and witharawing it directly reanvaid the position is shown in Fig. T of Plate 17. As the cartridge-... [Pg.153]

On many sites external noise sonrces may interfere with the instrument and this should be discussed to avoid wasted trips to site. Many factors such as traffic movement and general site noise should not affect the instrument as the frequency wonld be ontside the recording range of the equipment. Needle guns are a source of interference which wonld affect the technique. [Pg.91]

Scotchbrite ), needle guns, or shot-blasting techniques to remove unwanted surface layers these methods are generally more difficult to control than chemical methods. [Pg.92]

List the dBA levels of various equipment and tasks. For example, rock drilling can reach 115 dBA, chain saws 125 dBA, abrasive blasting 112 dBA, heavy equipment 110 dBA, demolition 117 dBA, and needle guns 112 dBA. Show slides of the equipment/tasks that require hearing protectors. Dispell myths about workers getting used to the noise. Have samples of all approved hearing protective devices. Indicate where workers can find hearing protectors. [Pg.730]

Research demonstrates that construction workers are regularly overexposed to noise. The extent of daily exposure to noise in the construction industry depends on the nature and duration of the work. For example, rock drilling—up to 115 dBA, chain saw—up to 125 dBA, abrasive blasting—105 to 112 dBA, heavy equipment operation— 95 to 110 dBA, demolition—up to 117 dBA, and needle guns—up to 112 dBA. Exposure to 115 dBA is permitted for a maximum of 15 minutes for an 8-hour workday. No exposure above 115 dBA is permitted. Traditional dosimetric measurements may substantially underestimate noise exposure levels for construction... [Pg.354]

There are several different renovation methods that should be incorporated into the project to limit the amount of dust created. Power tools, such as sanders, grinders, or needle guns, should be equipped with high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) attachments to capture any dust from these operations. (Environmental Protection... [Pg.214]
