Mag nesia. ndAlumina. Suspension. A mixture of salts, available as Maalox, Mylanta, Gelusil, and Aludrox, contains magnesium hydroxide [1309-42-8] Mg(OH)2, and variable amounts of aluminum oxide in the form of aluminum hydroxide and hydrated aluminum oxide, ie, 2.9—4.2% magnesium hydroxide and 2.0—2.4% aluminum oxide, Al O, for a mixture of 4.9—6.6% combined magnesium hydroxide and aluminum oxide. This mixture may contain a flavoring and antimicrobial agents in a total amount not to exceed 0.5% (see Aluminum compounds, aluminum oxide).

Liguid 200 mg aluminum hydroxide, 200 mg magnesium hydroxide, and 20 mg si-methicone/5 ml (Mylanta) 400 mg aluminum hydroxide, 400 mg magnesium hydroxide, and 40 mg simethicone/5 ml (Maalox Max) 500 mg aluminum hydroxide, 450 mg magnesium hydroxide, and 20 mg simethicone/5 ml (Maalox Fast Release) 400 mg aluminum hydroxide, 400 mg magnesium hydroxide, and 40 mg simethicone/5 ml (Mylanta Extra Strength). 

OTC with calcium carbonate (Titralac Plus) with aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide (Mylanta Gelisil, Maalox Extra Strength) with calcium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide (Tempo, Rolaids) with Magaldrate, (Riopan Plus) with charcoal (Charcoal Plus, Flatulex)...

Aluminum hydroxide is used in stomach antacids (including Maalox , Mylanta , and Delcid ), as a desiccant powder in antiperspirants and dentifrices in packaging materials as a chemical intermediate as a filler in plastics, rubber, cosmetics, and paper as a soft abrasive for brass and plastics as a glass additive to increase mechanical strength and resistance to thermal shock, weathering, and chemicals and in ceramics (HSDB 1995). Aluminum hydroxide is also used pharmaceutically to lower the plasma phosphorus levels of patients with renal failure (Budavari et al. 1989 Sax and Lewis 1987). 

Suggest that the client use magnesium hydroxide with aluminum hydroxide (Mylanta).
