Multiple setup

Multiple welds are required in many applications at multiple orientations, which affect the flexibility requirements of the FSW machine. In this case, a machine with six axes is often the most suitable for economic and technical reasons, although machines with fewer axes can be used in special cases where external positioners could be used. If machines with fewer than six axes are employed, it often means that multiple setups are required. This significantly affects productivity in a negative manner with machines having less than six axes. [Pg.220]

Within the framework of the EU-funded project BIOTEX, a multiple setup was chosen to analyse human sweat. Three types of sensors were employed — a pH, a sodium and a conductivity sensor — measuring, respectively, the pH, sodium concentration and electrical resistance of the sweat. But, in order to receive a good sample of the sweat to be analysed when wearing, a fluid-handling system based on Lycra was developed (Morris et al., 2009). [Pg.18]

Cq ), where is the blended impurity concentration of impurity a Cq, the background impurity level and the multiplication constant. Possible sources of background response include instmment noise, sample system outgassing, or interference from other impurity response signals. Proper setup, purging, and operation of the instmment should reduce background levels weU below ippb. [Pg.90]

There are four main types of architectural options when implementing LIMS [6]. The first is the LAN (local area network) installation. In a multiple-site situation and through the standard client/server setup, the application would be hosted separately on a server at each site connected to PC clients. In this setup, the LIMS are installed on both the clients and the server. System administration is required at each facility. [Pg.58]

Clearly, however, the flow simplification would be invalid on a small site with episodic projects, or in contexts with significant downtime due to changeover and setup activities for project-specific assays. Such simulation problems covering multiple projects and multiple assays, with use of a mix of shared and dedicated resources, can rapidly become intractable, and an early, com-monsense selection of the focus area for simulation is essential. [Pg.266]

Sample Control. In figure 7, the technician is sampling with a sampler diluter from the capillary. Here we see what is called "sample control". None of the specimen is being wasted on the walls of a cup. All of it is being taken eventually into the capillary and then dispensed. With a setup as shown in Figure 7, synchronized with this diluter, is a multiple dispenser, which can dispense several reagents at the same time that the specimen is added to the tube. [Pg.105]

Since ProteinTrawler records the retention time of each protein mass, it is a simple endeavor to maintain chromatographic conditions, split the flow that exits the LC column with a small portion set to the mass spectrometer to monitor for assurance that there were no changes in the retention time that would hinder the pooling of fractions from multiple runs, and to facilitate the determination of which fractions contained the desired proteins. In our experimental setup, the flow was split after the column with 25% of the flow going to the mass spectrometer while the remaining diverted to an HP1100 fraction collector. The fraction collector was used to collect fractions at 1.0-minute intervals. [Pg.216]

A comparison of theoretical and practical peak capacity values, summarized in Table 12.2, leads to a conclusion that even the most promising 2DLC setups do not provide for the peak capacity needed to fully resolve a complex proteomic sample. As a result, the eluent entering the MS source typically contains multiple coeluting peptides. [Pg.280]

For some quants staff is required with different qualifications and fractional numbers (multiple resources). One staff qualification for the setup and one qualification for the production for each quant are taken into account. For certain resources a shift model and also lockup intervals were defined. These constraints may force quants to be enlarged or lengthened over a shift break or lockup interval. This means that within the setup and production intervals of a quant there can... [Pg.80]

There are many variations on setting up the inlets to the MUX interface, depending on the needs of the laboratory. In one setup, one pump is used to deliver the flow through a flow splitter and multiple probe injector to four LC columns. The flow from each column is then fed into the MUX interface. In another variation, on-line SPE is coupled with LC. One pump, followed by a flow splitter, and one four-injector autosampler are used to feed samples into four extraction columns. A second pump is used (again with a flow splitter) to run gradients on the four LC columns into the MUX interface. In yet another system, an eight-channel UV MUX system is utilized. ... [Pg.626]
