Motivational approach, planning

From the contents of the teachers reflective diaries, the following differences in the lessons provided could be observed (1) Some teachers added extra exercises in knowledge consohdation, (2) some teachers left out particular activities, (3) some teachers adjusted the duration of particular sections (Fig. 13.2), (4) teachers used different motivational approaches to facilitate learning, e.g. students were rewarded with marks for their success in the Test of Gained Knowledge at the School N° 4. The duration of particular parts of the teaching plan is given in Fig. 13.2. 

Part of the planning should include the evaluation of test uncertainty. This evaluation can be limited to a common sense approach based on available instrumentation and the locations relative to the ideal. A more sophisticated study can be made in which instrumentation accuracy and the impact of any inaccuracy on the measured parameters is evaluated. This is a complex task with the need being based on the motivation for the test. If the test is being performed to settle a dispute, a formal understanding of the uncertainty should be developed. Methods for evaluation of test uncertainty are found in ANSI/ASME PTC 19.1 [11].

Audit report titles should reflect a more enlightened and proactive approach to auditing something like the GMP enhancement plan or quality and compliance improvements might serve to motivate employees and enlist executive management s support rather than the cold audit report. 

As stated in the I.R.I. position paper, (17) and supported in the ACFC survey, "these various approaches show a clear recognition on the part of industrial research organizations of the need to motivate and reward both inventors and innovators but it is apparent that what may be a reasonable approach for one company or industry may well not be effective for others". In other words, there are various reasons for having plans, and various kinds of plans, and each company should tailor its own plan to suit its circumstances. 

Just like any other endeavor in life, if we do not plan for it, we are seldom successful in accomplishing what we want. Employers trying to motivate individuals to behave in a manner that facilitates a safe and healthy work environment require planning and an organized approach. The very same approaches that have been used for decades to motivate individuals to perform can be applied to achieving safe work performance. 

The proposed variant of Scrum - SafeScrum, is motivated by the need to make it possible to use methods that are flexible with respect to planning, documentation and specification while still being acceptable to lEC 61508, as well as making Scrum a useful approach for developing safety critical systems. The rest of this section explains the components and concepts of this combined approach.
