The two types of dryers are static trays and conveyors, which are often vibrated as they move along. Atmospheric tray dryers are not suitable for some materials, notably nylon molding powder that oxidizes in air and requires vacuum drying. A commonly used variant of the tray type is the truck dryer. Here the loaded trays are placed on trucks and rolled into the drying enclosure. Continuous conveyor drying systems are extensively used where the product must be dried from the wet solid state and where production requirements are high. 

Automatic strippers have included many combinations of air blow-off, metal combs, and catch trays or chutes. Programmable robots are used for this type of work. These sophisticated units are also used to add inserts before loading the mold. 

A device used to load the charge of material or metal inserts simultaneously into each cavity of a multicavity mold by the withdrawal of a sliding bottom from the tray. 

Automatic presses are self-contained and the cycles are computer controlled. Typically these presses are vertical and they are available from 22.7 to 273 tons. Other features such as the material loading mechanism and unloading trays are added to fully automate the operation of these presses. The tool cost is higher for automatic molds than manual or semiautomatic molds.
