Model incremental

The most common development methodologies are the Waterfall Model, Incremental Development, Evolutionary Model, Object Oriented, and Spiral Model. [Pg.708]

See Concurrent Development Model, Incremental Development Model, Spiral Development Model, and System Life-Cycle Model for additional information. [Pg.126]

In contrast to the point charge model, which needs atom-centered charges from an external source (because of the geometry dependence of the charge distribution they cannot be parameterized and are often pre-calculated by quantum mechanics), the relatively few different bond dipoles are parameterized. An elegant way to calculate charges is by the use of so-called bond increments (Eq. (26)), which are defined as the charge contribution of each atom j bound to atom i. [Pg.345]

Similarly, using another model based on heteroatom increments proposed by Dischler (267), it was possible to calculate a very satisfactory empirical geometry for thiazole (122) with the aid of Shoolery s correlation (268) between and C-H bond length. [Pg.80]

To convert the core area into the pore area ( = specific surface, if the external area is negligible) necessitates the use of a conversion factor R which is a function not only of the pore model but also of both r and t (cf. p. 148). Thus, successive increments of the area under the curve have to be corrected, each with its appropriate value of R. For the commonly used cylindrical model,... [Pg.171]

The cheat/server model oftea allows easier iategratioa with other aetwork apphcatioas (eg, fiaance, project management, or human resources) which typically operate ia the environment of the server component of the cheat/server system. Gheat/server can be gradually iatroduced ia an existing minicomputer environment, often with httie adverse incremental impact ia terms of retraining and additional cost. [Pg.521]

The number of components N is incremented by one and the entire procedure is repeated to arrive at a PRESS(A + 1). In other words, for A + 1 = 2, two principal components would be extracted and used to predict the deleted data values. As N approaches the tme number of significant components, the prediction should improve, and thus the PRESS should decrease. As the significant number is passed, noise begins to be included within the model, which has low predictive abiUty. At this point, the PRESS should start to increase again. Thus the basic type of criterion used in cross-vaUdation to select is that when... [Pg.426]

The model will probably be introduced incrementally, perhaps into one team, and then over time it will spread to larger sections of the company... [Pg.256]

The process design linear program model is best written with flexibility in mind, such as extra matrix rows to provide flexibility in recycling, adding outside streams intermediate in the process, and determining component incremental values at each processing stage. This subject is discussed more fully later in this chapter. [Pg.347]

As yet, models for fluid membranes have mostly been used to investigate the conformations and shapes of single, isolated membranes, or vesicles [237,239-244], In vesicles, a pressure increment p between the vesicle s interior and exterior is often introduced as an additional relevant variable. An impressive variety of different shapes has been found, including branched polymer-like conformations, inflated vesicles, dumbbell-shaped vesicles, and even stomatocytes. Fig. 15 shows some typical configuration snapshots, and Fig. 16 the phase diagram for vesicles of size N = 247, as calculated by Gompper and Kroll [243]. [Pg.671]

A key advantage of the business process redesign approach is that while it draws on past experience (in the form of the team s collective expertise) it is not bound by it. This helps minimize the risk that inadequate practices may become institutionalized through habit or neglect, and forces the team to take a fresh look at the critical processes under review. At the same time, this approach requires more concentrated effort than either TQM or model programs and may not be necessary in cases where incremental improvement is all that s required to address PSM gaps. [Pg.140]

It should be emphasized that it is usually necessary to develop the data collection specification on an incremental basis and to utilize feedback from the system to modify the initial model relating causal factors to error types. This dynamic approach provides the best answer to the problem that no predefined error model will be applicable to every situation. [Pg.265]

Gelbart (1974) has reviewed a number of theories of the origins of the depolarized spectrum. One of the simplest models is the isolated binary collision (IBC) model of McTague and Bimbaum (1968). All effects due to the interaction of three or more particles are ignored, and the scattering is due only to diatomic collision processes. In the case that the interacting particles A and B are atoms or highly symmetrical molecules then there are only two unique components of the pair polarizability tensor, and attention focuses on the anisotropy and the incremental mean pair polarizability... [Pg.293]

The efficient heat pump reduces energy use by 1,676 kWh per year on average. Is the efficient model heat pump a good investment Suppose the incremental cost of the efficient unit, as compared with the less efficient unit, is 1,000, and electricity cost 10 cents per kWh. With this price of electricity, the efficient heat pump reduces electricity costs by 167.60 per year. Taking a simplified approach for purposes of illustration and assuming that each unit lasts indefinitely and has no repair, maintenance, or replacement costs, and ignoring possible tax effects, the internal rate of return may be calculated as 1,000= 167.60/r, which is 16.76 percent per year. If the household can borrow money at, say, 10 percent per year and earn 16.76 percent, the investment makes economic sense. If we assume a 10 percent discount rate, the present value of the investment is 1,676, which exceeds the initial investment cost. The net present value is 676, which indicates that the investment is feasible. [Pg.378]

The multivariable modeling/control package is able to hold more tightly against constraints and recover more quickly from disturbances. This results in an incremental capacity used to justify multivariable control. An extensive test run is necessary to measure the response of unit variables. [Pg.179]

Because of the convenient mathematical characteristics of the x -value (it is additive), it is also used to monitor the fit of a model to experimental data in this application the fitted model Y - ABS(/(x,. ..)) replaces the expected probability increment ACP (see Eq. 1.7) and the measured value y, replaces the observed frequency. Comparisons are only carried out between successive iterations of the optimization routine (e.g. a simplex-program), so that critical X -values need not be used. For example, a mixed logarithmic/exponential function Y=Al LOG(A2 + EXP(X - A3)) is to be fitted to the data tabulated below do the proposed sets of coefficients improve the fit The conclusion is that the new coefficients are indeed better. The y-column shows the values actually measured, while the T-columns give the model estimates for the coefficients A1,A2, and A3. The x -columns are calculated as (y- Y) h- Y. The fact that the sums over these terms, 4.783,2.616, and 0.307 decrease for successive approximations means that the coefficient set 6.499... yields a better approximation than either the initial or the first proposed set. If the x sum, e.g., 0.307,... [Pg.79]

Clearly, the extent of exotherm-generated temperature overshoot predicted by the Chiao and finite element models differs substantially. The finite element results were not markedly changed by refining the mesh size or the time increments, so the difference appears to be inherent in the numerical algorithms used. Such comparison is useful in further development of the codes, as it provides a means of pinpointing those model parameters or algorithms which underlie the numerical predictions. These points will be explored more fully in future work. [Pg.280]
