Atropiae (41), isolated from the deadly nightshade Airopa belladonna L.) is the racemic form, as isolated, of (—)-hyoscyamine [which is not isolated, of course, from the same plant but is typically found ia solanaceous plants such as henbane (HyosQiamus mgerl. )]. Atropiae is used to dilate the pupil of the eye ia ocular inflammations and is available both as a parasympatholytic agent for relaxation of the intestinal tract and to suppress secretions of the saUvary, gastric, and respiratory tracts. In conjunction with other agents it is used as part of an antidote mixture for organophosphorus poisons (see Chemicals in war). 

There was a tendency to use these resins mixed with urea—formaldehyde or melamine-type resins. Preparation of pure tria2ones or uron resins is difficult and expensive (61,62). Furthermore, the basic nature of the amine nitrogen in tria2one permits the use of mixtures of tria2ones with other agents to yield finishes that retain strength in hypochlorite bleaching. 

Numerous groups have described the use of d-AAO in a variety of combinations with other agents and in a variety of processes. Cheng and Wu, in the context of a biotransformation of DL-aspartic acid to L-alanine, in which the key reaction works only with L-Asp, removed residual D-Asp with d-AAO and converted the resulting oxaloacetate into L-Asp by including L-aspartate aminotransferase (r-AspAT) in the reaction mixture (Scheme 1). 

One of the big drawbacks associated with the use of many conducting polymers as electrochromic materials is their low cycle life stability. To overcome this, and other electrochromic properties, many composite materials have been studied. These composites include mixtures with other optically complementary, conducting polymers and inorganic electrochromes, such as tungsten trioxide and Prussian Blue, and colour enhancing agents or redox indicators, exemplified by the inherently electrochromic indigo carmine (1.96). °... 

Noscapine is a naturally occurring product of the opium poppy. It is a benzylisoquinoline with no analgesic or other CNS effects. Its antitussive effects are weak, but it is used in combination with other agents in mixtures for cough relief. 

Mixtures with other herbicides also are used for weed control. The product Agent Orange, used extensively throughout Vietnam, was about 50% 2,4-D. However, the controversy about the use of Agent Orange was associated with a contaminant (dioxin) in 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4,5-T) (C8H5Cl303), not with 2,4-D. It should be well understood that 2,4,5-T is different from 2,4-D but similar to 2,4-D as a herbicide component of the defoliant.39... 

Knowing how a nitration process is likely to proceed is possible only when the structure of the nitrating agent itself is known. This is why a great deal of research work has been devoted lately to the elucidation of the structure of nitric acid when pure and in mixtures with other mineral acids. 

Various publications have appeared in which pyrazolinones, either alone or as mixtures with other materials, have been claimed to be effective as germicides,26 in influenza,377 as antimicrobial agents,571 as fungicides,676 as antiactinics,1151 and as antidiuretics.663,1078 At present it appears that none of these claims have led to clinical use. 

In adhesives, because of their brittle nature, phenolics are generally formulated in add mixture with other polymers. They are used as the primary cross-linking agents for nitrile rubbers, poly(vinyl formal) and butyral resins, and epoxy resins.
