Mixed gases

Sulphuric add test. To 0-5 g. of oxalic acid or of an oxalate, add I ml. of cone. H2SO4 and warm CO and COg are evolved (cf. formic acid). The CO burns with a blue flame. Detect the COg by passing the mixed gases evolved into lime-water. It is essential to test for the COj in a separate reaction, or (if the same test-tube is used) before testing for CO. [Pg.351]

In internal protection, attention must be paid to the fact that mixed gases that contain hydrogen and oxygen are evolved by the protection current. Noble metals and noble metal coatings can catalyze an explosion. The safety measures required in this case are presented in DIN 50927 [32] (see also Section 20.1.5). [Pg.223]

This is nothing else than the well-known Law of Mixed Gases, or Law of Partial Pressures, discovered experimentally by John Dalton in 1801, and expressed by him in the somewhat vague... [Pg.265]

This reactor comprises a single-channel reaction zone followed by a quenching (cooling) zone [72], Gases, pre-heated in a separate zone, are contacted in an T-junction and mixed in a short passage thereafter. Such mixed gases enter the above-mentioned reaction zone. [Pg.278]

Gaseous mixtures may explode on sparking. The mixed gases slowly react to give a mixture (NO, NOF) which, if liquefied by cooling, will explode on warming. [Pg.1524]

The use of mixed gases is designed to equalize the heat capacities of the two counterflow gas streams and thereby make the exchange process much more efficient. However, the expanded fluid is a mixture of liquid and gas hence a liquid-vapour separator is needed to allow the expanding liquid to precool the vapour. Figure 5.13 shows the cycle as modified by MMR Technologies [53]... [Pg.140]

B The volume occupied by the 02 (g) at its partial pressure is the same as the volume occupied by the mixed gases water vapor and02(g). The partial pressure of 02(g) is found by difference. [Pg.108]

Theory of HHG in Mixed Gases and Heterodyne Interferometry for Detection of Ultrafast Molecular Dynamics... [Pg.67]

The dimensionless second term in (4.1), Iprop(wg), expresses the role of propagation in mixed gases. As in the case of HHG in pure gases [23], the optimization conditions 1/3 > La and Lc > 5La ensure that the macroscopic response is more than half of the maximum response. The asymptotic value in L —> 00 and Lc —> 00 is independent of ptot and is a monotonically increasing... [Pg.68]

In summary, we investigated HHG in mixed gases both experimentally and theoretically. As the new nonlinear media for HHG, using mixed gases can serve as a new route not only to control and characterize harmonics but also to observe attosecond dynamics in atoms and molecules. [Pg.79]

Flames used in analytical measurements are similar to those produced by Bunsen burners with the added provision of a means of introducing the sample directly into the combustion zone. Support (oxidant) and fuel gases are fed to a nebulizer along with the sample solution. The mixed gases and sample aerosol then pass through the jets of the burner where ignition occurs. [Pg.314]

After combustion in a closed room, the temperature of the well-mixed gases achieves 350 °C. There is gaseous fuel in the room left over at a mass fraction of 0.015. There is ample air... [Pg.114]
