Missing information

It is not unusual to have several inherent safety reviews during the product/process development effort. Early reviews will often not have all of the information required for Steps 1 to 9. The follow-up items will describe what is necessary to obtain the missing information such as toxicity data on new intermediates or products of undesired reactions. 

The planning of measurements is the first consideration to obtain information by the measurement approach. Why is it essential to make plans before any action is taken. Could one not just take the instruments and carry out the monitoring. In very simple situations this approach might provide a satisfactory result, but it could result in failure as well. In complicated situations failure, in terms of missing information, would be likely. Hence in order to obtain a sufficient quantity of high-quality information and to avoid the need to repeat any measurement or monitoring, and thus to save time and effort, the planning of measurements is essential. 

While MSDS s arc not required to be physically attached to a shipment, they must accompany or precede Oic shipment. When the body is stressed by prolonged starvation, however, acetyl CoA is converted into compounds called ketone bodies, which can be used by the brain as a temporary fuel. The equilibrium constant of a reaction contains information about the equilibrium composition at the given temperature. However, in many cases, we know only the initial composition of the reaction mixture and are given apparently incomplete information about the equilibrium composition. In fact, the missing information can usually be inferred by using the reaction stoichiometry. The easiest way to proceed is to draw up an equilibrium table, a table showing the initial composition, the changes needed to reach equilibrium in terms of some unknown quantity x, and the final equilibrium composition. The procedure is summarized in Toolbox 9.1 and illustrated in the examples that follow.

What the Panel Member Does not Need to Know. It is generally conceded that your scientific project is very important. A lengthy introduction intended to convince the panel by giving information that is not closely related to the experiment is exhausting, in particular if it tills half of the proposal form. The panel member gets annoyed, if by this procedure important information has been squeezed out. The panel member who is the speaker will probably have to retrieve the missing information from the Internet. The panel member becomes more annoyed if this happens for several proposals in succession. The panel member is happy if he reads a clear and concise proposal. 

In general, only a 2D scattering pattern will be available. In this case isotropization can only be performed if the pattern shows fiber symmetry and the fiber axis is contained in the scattering pattern. This symmetry axis must be known. Complete is the available information under these conditions only if SAXS data are evaluated. For WAXS data there are blind regions about the meridian (cf. Fig. 2.6 on p. 28), and missing information must be completed either by extrapolation or by extra experiments in which the sample is tilted with respect to the primary beam. 

Identify significant issues that require further attention and provide the missing information. Unless the validity of the method is in serious doubt, the method can continue to be used. However, the new validation information should be produced over a reasonable time-period and may involve experimental data and professional judgement.
