Microanalysis solving

The powders of zeolites of various trademarks are used to produce petroleum-refining catalysts. In this connection, it is very important to have complete information concerning not only chemical composition and distribution of impurity elements, but also shape, surface, stmcture and sizes of particles. It allows a more detailed analysis of the physical-chemical characteristics of catalysts, affecting their activity at different stages of technological process. One prospective for solving these tasks is X-ray microanalysis with an electron probe (EPMA). 

In the course of assembling expert opinion and technical resources for this paper, It became apparent that certain guidelines were being used by the microanalysis community to solve microelectronic process and failure problems. Not everyone was aware of these guidelines, not everyone was aware that any such rules existed nor was their application uniform, since not every problem was solved by the analysts. Typical comments were made such as (12)... 

We state below some of the rules that experts used for solving microanalysis problems. The list Is not meant to be exhaustive, nor Is It complete. It Is stated merely as an attempt at assembling some collective knowledge from the materials analysis community on problem solving.
