Micro advantages

The transference of a liquid from one vessel to another is best carried out by means of a dropping pipette A (Fig. 30). For measuring out a definite volume of liquid it is obviously an advantage to have a calibrated pipette B (Fig. 30) of i or 5 ml. total capacity. Alternatively, semi-micro burettes reading to 0 02 ml. are particularly convenient for class work. 

Determination of Melting-points. The determination of the melting-point, as described on pp. 2-4, is of course in itself a micro-method. Even so, when working on a very small scale it is advantageous to use either ... 

The advantages of this method are twofold (i) It is possible to observe minute changes in colour and structure before and during the process of melting. (2) It is possible to use a single crystal which, e.., is often obtained from a semi-micro sublimation. 

Water-in-od emulsion explosives have been made as typified by a formulation containing 20% water, 12% oil, 2% microspheres, 1% emulsifier, and 65% ammonium nitrate. The micro droplets of an emulsion explosive offer the advantage of intimate contact between fuel and oxidizer, and tend to equal or outperform conventional water-based slurries. 

The use of impedance electrochemical techniques to study corrosion mechanisms and to determine corrosion rates is an emerging technology. Elec trode impedance measurements have not been widely used, largely because of the sophisticated electrical equipment required to make these measurements. Recent advantages in micro-elec tronics and computers has moved this technique almost overnight from being an academic experimental investigation of the concept itself to one of shelf-item commercial hardware and computer software, available to industrial corrosion laboratories. 

In addition to these advantages TLC also possesses other merits which ensure that it occupies a firm place in the arsenal of analytical techniques as a method for the separation of micro-, nano- and picogram quantities [5]. 

Another obvious advantage that the LG method typically enjoys over floating-point methods is one of programming efficiency. Because LG dynamics are a natural transcription of the kinetic processes taking place on the micro-lattice, the actual program code is generally concise and straightforward, and often amounts to little more than a few dozen lines of FORTRAN. 

This will happen in situations where there is an energetically favourable advantage for die micro-organism not to have the plasmid in the cell. 

To establish the most advantageous conditions for production of L-phenylalanine from acetamidocinnamic add using two micro-organisms the following factors were investigated pH, amino donor and ratio of two enzyme activities. 

Items (4) and (5) can be true of both plants and micro-organisms and are thus not a relative advantage to either.
