Certain preservatives are physically unstable with certain macromolecules.For example, adsorption of methyl p-Hydroxybenzoate to nylon was found to be dependent on nylon membrane size and the concentration of free methylparaben. The complexation of methyl p-Hydroxybenzoate with Tween 80 depends on the amount of free methylparaben and the concentration of Tween 80. Similar results have been reported for propyl p-Hydroxybenzoate.
