Methane sulfonic acid generation

Cefonicid Sodium, Sterile, USP. Monocid is a second-generation cephalosporin that is structurally similar to cefa-mandolc, except that it contains a methane sulfonic acid group attached to the N-l position of the tetramie ring. The antimicrobial spectrum and limited /9-lactamase stability of cefonicid are essentially identical with those of cefamandole. 

This complex also catalyzes the reaction of higher alpha-oleftns and internal olefins to form linear esters. The reaction of octane with 1 atm of CO in methanol with added methane sulfonic acid formed high yields of methyl nonanoate. The same reaction of 2-, 3-, or 4-octene with 4 atm of CO, shown in Equation 17.38i generated the same methyl nonanoate. The selectivity for the linear product ranged from 94% for 4-octene to 99% for 2-octene and 1-octene. The reactions of the branched olefins 2-, 3-, and 4-methyl-l-pentene formed the terminal ester, as did 4-methyl-2-pentene. ... 

The work on the electrochemical generation of a solution of ceric sulphate from slurry of cerous sulphate in 1-2 M sulphuric acid was abandoned by BCR due to difficulties encountered in handling slurried reactants. A 6kW pilot reactor operated at 50 °C using a Ti plate anode and a tungsten wire cathode (electrolyte velocity about 2ms 1) produced 0.5 M Ce(S04)2 on the anode with a current efficiency of 60%.
