Melting tank

As crystals of ice are formed, they are perfectly separated from the residual brine and passed to a melting tank, being raised to the melting temperature, Toi en route by the previously mentioned countercurrent heat exchange with the incoming saline water. 

The scraper at the top of the column is designed with two cutting blades and two rakes which transport the shaved ice to the chute to the melt tank. A stainless steel pipe nozzle header is part of each of the four arms of the scraper. Wash water is supplied through a hollow shaft to the headers and is sprayed onto the top of the ice (see Figure 8). 

A schematic diagram of a prill tower is given in Fig. 7.7. Some details of an installation for fertilizer materials are listed in Table 1.2. Melt is provided to the prilling devices at the top of the tower from reactor/evaporator systems in the case of a fertilizer material such as ammonium nitrate or from a melt tank in the case of fusible materials such as petroleum wax and coal tar pitch. Melt droplets travel counter-current to cooling air and the solid prills are conveyed away from the bottom of the tower to appropriate downstream treatments such as cooling, clay treatment and storage. 

MYKON SEW can be readily made into a water based emulsion under atmospheric conditions. It does not require the use of a hot melt tank. The emulsified product provides excellent sewability and tear strength improvement to cellulosic fabrics.

Day tank furnaces with melting tanks for 1 to 5 t glass are fired with gas or oil and are named after the work cycle length which for loading, melting, fining and discharge is 24 hours.

Most plate glass was drawn in continuous sheets directly from a melting tank using these processes.

These electrode constructions also reduce the rate of the fugacity change at the lower part of the electrode caused by the short-circuit, but does not decrease the final magnitude of this effect. Complete elimination, however, is achieved by the relative motion of the melt and electrode, eg, by stirring the melt or in streaming melts as in continuously working industrial melting tanks.
