Although addiction in children who take low-dose Ritalin pills orally and in a medical context is not common, this does not mean that Ritalin cannot be abused. The final element which regulations address is quality. Safety and fitness for purpose, as discussed above, are two of the characteristics that you would associate with a quality product. The interpretation of the results from a clinical trial or series of trials denotes the process of discerning their clinical meaning or significance, or providing an explanation for the data under evaluation. The importance of interpretation lies both within the clinical trial and beyond it in the use to which the results will be put. Within the context of the trial itself, correct interpretation of the results will determine whether the objectives of the trial have been achieved and whether the hypothesis is proven, interpretation beyond the immediate clinical trial concerns comparisons with other studies, extrapolation to different populations and the impact on medical practice.

The potential meanings of dosing frequency are also not wasted on children. If they find their medication helpful and given in the context of a supportive alliance, more frequent dosing can actually be reassuring. 

THE PSYCHOLOGICAL MEANING OF THE CONTEXT IN WHICH MEDICATION IS PRESCRIBED... 

Jensen et al. (n.d.) concluded, Research investigating children s perceptions of the meanings of stimulant medication, as mediated by the family context, adult and child attributions, and the child s developmental level, are long overdue. Unfortunately, Jensen never published the paper and instead went on to a lucrative and influential career as one of the nation s most uncompromising advocates of drugs for children. 

Irradiation techniques are more and more widely utilized for industrial applications for instance, for food preservation, medical sterilization, and polymer processing. In Morocco, intoxication with PPD is a major health problem. A reported series of 171 cases of PPD poisoning admitted to the medical resuscitation service in Ibn Roshd hospital between January 1994 and October 1997. In this series, there were 5 men and 166 women, with a mean age around 26 years. Twenty four percent of the patients developed severe ARF and 55 deaths (38.7%) were observed in this study [26]. In 90% of the cases PPD was ingested in the context of a suicidal attempt. The amount ingested varied between 3 and 15 grams. 

Efficacy is a central issue with all pharmaceutical products. In the context of OTC products, it is traditional to accept a somewhat lesser degree of efficacy in order to improve the safety profile. Also, a lesser standard of efficacy is normally expected by the patient, because OTC medication tends to be a first step in therapy. Failure to obtain satisfactory efficacy typically results in the patient seeking professional advice, at which point more powerful treatments can be prescribed. This does not mean, however, that OTC drugs should not be effective for the conditions they treat. 

The results given above indicate that there is no obvious advantage of substituting the existing batch process for production of ISSPH by a membrane reactor process. However, this does not in general mean that continuous protein hydrolysis in a membrane reactor will be uneconomical. For example if the substrate is more completely degradable than soy protein (casein might be such a substrate), it is expected that in a small scale plant (where the capital costs would favour the membrane reactor) the membrane reactor process could be very attractive. The production of protein hydrolysates for dietetic and medical use, could well be considered in this context.
