Magnetization elimination

Magnetic levitation is an application which could theoretically be used for people transport. Transportation vehicles, such as trains, would be made to float on strong superconducting magnets, eliminating friction between the train and its tracks. This would mean extremely high speeds could be achieved. This was realized in 1990, with a nationally funded project in Japan to develop just such a train. The Yamanashi test line opened in April 1997. On 14 April 1999 a speed of 340 miles per hour was achieved with the MLXOl. [Pg.161]

Signals from geometry, residual magnetism or slow permeability changes are reduced or eliminated. [Pg.322]

For the case of electro-magnets, inclusions detection in welds situated at 1-2 mm of depth is very important, because the reluctance variation between the two mediums is not important, and thus the detection of this type of defect is very difficult. It will be sufficient to be in optimal conditions to eliminate this problem. [Pg.637]

Liquid helium s use in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) continues to increase as the medical profession accepts and develops new uses for the equipment. This equipment has eliminated some need for exploratory surgery by accurately diagnosing patients. Another medical application uses MRE to determine (by blood analysis) whether a patient has any form of cancer. [Pg.8]

Sucralfate [54182-58-0] an aluminum salt of sucrose octasulfate, is used as an antacid and antiulcer medication (59). Bis- and tris-platinum complexes of sucrose show promise as antitumor agents (60). Sucrose monoesters are used in some pharmaceutical preparations (21). A sucrose polyester is under evaluation as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging (mri) (61). Oral adrninistration of this substance opacifies the gastrointestinal tract and eliminates the need for purging prior to mri. [Pg.6]

To eliminate the ambiguities in the subject of electricity and magnetism, it is convenient to add charge q to the traditional I, m and t dimensions of mechanics to form the reference dimensions. In many situations permittivity S or permeabiUty ]1 is used in Heu of charge. For thermal problems temperature Tis considered as a reference dimension. Tables 2 and 3 Hst the exponents of dimensions of some common variables in the fields of electromagnetism and heat. [Pg.104]

It eliminates the proximity effect (extra forces and heating) by providing a magnetic shielding to the supporting and metallic structures in the vicinity. [Pg.929]

The enclosure is constructed of non-magnetic material, generally aluminium, in view of its low cost and weight as compared to copper The nonmagnetic material eliminates hysteresis and eddy current losses in the enclosure, as i result of mutual induction,... [Pg.935]

Improved rotor dynamic stability. The active magnetic bearing s ability to vary stiffness and damping permits rotation about the rotor s inertial axis, eliminating vibration and noise. [Pg.333]

In many cases, the most frequent cause of equipment outage is the lubrication system. Because magnetic bearings do not wear out, and do eliminate oil, pumps, filters, coolers, and regulating and mixing valves, the potential for improved reliability is obvious. Reliability is also enhanced by the control system, which offers continuous real-time protection. The system automatically shuts down before machinery damage can occur. [Pg.456]

The yield is determined by weighing the cold trap before and after distillation of methylenecyclopropane. Any small amounts of tetra-hydrofuran carried into the methylenecyclopropane trap are eliminated in a subsequent distillation. By proton magnetic resonance analysis the checkers found that no tetrahydrofuran reached the cold traps the spectrum (dichloromethane) shows a triplet at S 1.00 and a quintuplet at S 5.35 in the ratio 4 2. [Pg.39]

A more recent implementation, which completely eliminates the gauge dependence, is to make the basis functions explicitly dependent on the magnetic field by inclusion of a complex phase factor refening to the position of the basis function (usually the nucleus). [Pg.252]

The mechanism outlined above is supported by experimental findings. An intermediate 5 has been isolated, " and has been identified by and N-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Side-products have been isolated, which are likely to be formed from intermediate 4. N-isotope labeling experiments have shown that only the nitrogen remote from the phenyl group is eliminated as ammonia. [Pg.115]

The LKC eliminates many problems that are presented by the utilization of permanent magnetic or electrostatic water treatment devices of which you may have heard. ... [Pg.339]
