During the optical coat work stress examination method the upper plate of the head of some of the bolts was covered with an optical coat work (Fig. 4). On the head of some other bolts strain gauges were stuck which measured the plain biaxial stress state in the middle of the top surface of the head of the bolt (3.5 x 3 mm). The magnetic probe detected average stresses up to 0.1 mm depth in an area of 14 mm diameter in the middle of the head of the bolt. [Pg.7]

A magnetic probe should be realized in a material of a high magnetic permeability and a low electric conductivity. [Pg.295]

In this chapter, the role of electrochemical and magnetic biosensors towards development of portable, compact and inexpensive biochip devices has been demonstrated. Direct measurement of electrochemical signals, such as ferrocene molecule, is a preferred approach to simplify the process towards miniaturized biochip devices. Furthermore, the use of magnetic probes promises to increase the sensitivity. Future research may be in the direction of developing new probes, e.g. nanomaterials for differing bio-applications. [Pg.163]

The muon can be implanted as a local magnetic probe in any material that does not itself contain suitable magnetic nuclei. [Pg.103]

All these experiments are limited by the need to separate topographic, electronic, and magnetic information in the case of magnetic probe tips, and to eliminate thermal or film thickness induced effects in the case of semiconducting tips. [Pg.123]

The major components of an NMR spectrometer include a with a magnet, probe, rf electronics, and a desktop computer as depicted in Fig. 12.3 and further described in Table 12.2. Significant advancements in NMR hardware over the years have yielded dramatic increases in experimental sensitivity and resolution. One such advancement has been the recent introduction of the shielded 900 MHz magnet. A 900 MHz magnet results in an 84% improvement in sensitivity and a 150% improvement in resolution relative to a standard 600 MHz magnet (Kupce, 2001). The shielded aspect of the magnet reduces the... [Pg.372]

Multifunetional GNPs are attractive tools for glycobiology studies. They are coming into use as anti-HIV agents, as anti-cancer vaceines, and as magnetic probes for appheation in eellular labeling and... [Pg.270]
