Lupus Natural history

Patients with APAH associated with systemic lupus should also be differentiated as a distinct cohort, inasmuch as patients who respond to immunosuppressive therapy have a much better outcome (70). Overall, SSD APAH has a significantly worse prognosis than IPAH this is true both with respect to the natural history of the disease as well as following treatment (Figure 8.1).
