Catalyst-heat Process. At the present time production using the catalyst-heat process for making wood-polymer composites is much smaller than the radiation process, but its use is much more widespread throughout the United States and the world. The simplicity of the catalyst-heat process and low initial cost to begin production is the key to the use by small companies who make high cost small volume items. 

Quadrant III. In this quadrant, volume is low and demand error is low. Efficiency in this supply chain can be achieved through advanced planning systems (APS) that utilize the TOC logic. Through the use of the software, these lower volume items can be combined with higher volume product cycles to reduce the impact of constraints and decrease the impact of cycle stock on inventory carrying costs. 

General line products include such disparate items as giftware, boxes, etc. With these relatively low volume products decoration is a more important element than anticorrosion protection. 

At our molders, low-volume or special items included pre-colored materials, abrasive compounds, and purchased or consigned components. At the one participant where pre-colored material was an issue, the per-pound material activity cost for pre-colored material was almost triple that for white or black material. We also found that abrasive compounds caused accelerated mold deterioration and higher mold maintenance costs at two of our sites. Finally, purchased components generally required more purchasing and quality control per dollar purchased than compounds and, at one site, the storage and handling of customer-consigned components cost the company close to 30,000 per year. 

Much has been written about the endless application possibilities for mixed plastic waste. Fence posts, floor tiles, storage pallets, road cones and other large volume, low technology items are cited, and there have indeed been some successes. The fact is, however, that randomly mixed polymers can be difficult (and possibly dangerous) to process, with a variability in performance which could be unacceptable even in these undemanding applications. Furthermore, the size of this market sink is not unlimited, and it is arguably better served by second grade but unmixed bulk polymers, especially in various reworked and somewhat contaminated manifestations, at very low prices. 

The compressor manufacturer can control items a-c, e, f, and h however, the control of clearance volume at high compression ratios for gases/vapors with low specific heat ratios is of great concern. Compression efficiency is controlled by the clearance volume, valves, and valve pocket design. A decrease in compression efficiency leads to increased power requirements. ... 

The mechanical properties of Micelle-Templated Silicas (MTS) are very sensitive items for industrial process applications which might submit catalysts or adsorbents to relevant pressure levels, either in the shaping of the solid or in the working conditions of catalysis or separation vessels. First studies about compression of these highly porous materials have shown a very low stability against pressure. These results concern these specific materials tested. In this study, we show very stable MTS with only a loss of 25% of the pore volume at 3 kbar. The effects of several synthesis parameters on the mechanical strength are discussed.
