Low gravity

In some areas, mn-of-mine coal is separated into three products a low gravity, premium-priced coal for metakurgical or other special use, a middlings product for possible boiler firing, and a high ash refuse. The complete preparation of coal usuaky requires several processes. 

Liquids and Solids Content. Oil, water, and solids volume percent is determined by retort analysis as in a water-base mud. More time is required to get a complete distillation of an oil mud than of a water mud. Then the corrected water phase volume, the volume percent of low gravity solids, and the oil-water ratio can be calculated the chart in Figure 4-108 can be used for the calculations [24]. 

Example. Find the volume fraction of brine, the low gravity solids content, the adjusted mud weight, and the oil-to-water ratio from the test data below (use Figure 4-107). 

Find the adjusted mud weight value, extend that point downward until it meets the volume-percent suspended solids line. Proceed horizontally to find the ppg of low gravity solids. 

For all practical purposes, solids in drilling mud are considered to be either low-gravity solids (drilled solids and gel, SG = 2.5 or 2.6) or high gravity solids (barite, SG = 4.2). 

Coal has been used as a very-low-gravity additive. Coal does not require a significant amount of additional water when added to the cement. 

An obvious concern for growing potatoes or any other plant in space is the different gravity environment. Watering plants in low gravity is a challenge but the typical problems associated... 

Tables are also used to wash coal. The reciprocating action of a table stratifies the high-gravity coal particles on the bottom and the low-gravity particles rise to the upper level of tine bed. As the low-gravity particles rise, they are moved across riffles that separate die high- and low-gravily material by the water flowing to the low side of the table deck. The refuse is trapped in the riffle troughs and the motion of the deck moves the refuse to discharge off the end.

Low-gravity materials used primarily to reduce cost. e.g.. blown asphalt, wood floe. etc., in rubber and plastic mixes, in this sense, there is no clear distinction between a diluent and an extender. 

Fundamental physics researchers use the low-gravity environment ol space to test basic scientific theories noc possible in the gravity environment on Earth in fields such as thermophysical measurements, atomic physics and relativistic physics. 

Low gravity drainage - decreases the rate of film thinning. 

The air inside the chariot has a slight marine smell, as if the chariot has been near some coastal shore. After a few seconds, the chariot seems to ride almost effortlessly. Perhaps it is the low gravity. 

Slicing, etching, and polishing an iron meteorite reveals a delicate interlocking pattern of crystals. This is called a Widmanstatten structure, and it is the unique fingerprint of each meteorite. These patterns can only form in low gravity environments and are not found in rocks on Earth.
