Loving-kindness

They never refuse anything that they possess. . . on the contrary, they offer it themselves, and they exhibit so much loving kindness that they would even give their hearts.. .. I forbade that worthless things.. . should be given to them (107). 

Love, kindness, patience and security all help to heal trauma. Too bad there is so little of this in the world, Otto. 

Practicing loving-kindness is hard. We often feel envy, or resentment, or bitterness, or even hatred—that s just the way it is. Or we harbor an unwillingness to forgive, even if we think we should. We can t expect ourselves to never have these thoughts or feelings. So rather than seek perfection, the solution to is to create a peaceful heart. And out of that peace, it is possible to wish another well. 

Molecular imaging of the chemical processes in the human brain can define the chemistry of excessively aggressive behavior and identify the brain chemistry related to the instincts of friendship, love, kindness, and charity. 

In celebrating the centenary of the birth of Anatoly K. Babko we appreciatively recall his diligence, scientific, pedagogical and organizing talents. His active and purposeful character will always feature in our strikingly kind memory of Anatoly K. Babko - who through all his life maintained a love and loyalty to science. 

My interest in the periodic table has at least two aspects. Firstly, like so many people before me, I fell in love with the rational beauty of the periodic chart that appears to systematize all the kinds of elementary substances that a student of chemistry would ever encounter.1 The extent to which students are exposed to the periodic table and the stage at which this takes place seems to vary a good deal depending on geographical location and on the era in which they learn chemistry. In my own case it was in London in the 1960s where we were not initially taught the periodic table, although it was displayed on the classroom walls. 

Chronoamperometric transients for CO stripping on polycrystalline platinum were measured by McCallum and Fletcher [1977], Love and Lipkowski [1988] were the hrst to present chronoamperometric data for CO stripping on single-crystalline platinum. However, they interpreted their data on the basis of a different model than the one discussed above. Love and Lipkowski considered that the oxidation of the CO adlayer starts at holes or defects in the CO adlayer, where OH adsorbs. These holes act as nucleation centers for the oxidation reaction, and the holes grow as the CO at the perimeter of these holes is oxidized away by OHads- This nucleation and growth (N G) mechanism is fundamentally different from the mean held model presented above, because it does not presume any kind of mixing of CO and OH [Koper et ah, 1998]. Basically, it assumes complete surface immobility of the chemisorbed CO. 

Kind words, for though I have never loved her, yet she has been a good wife who brought a good portion, and I have a husband s duty to her well-being of mind as well as body. I pray that the provisions I have made for her in my will are honored when I am gone. 

But he still might say no. Maybe he s not sure what kind of stay-the-night I mean. Maybe he s remembering that once, in another life, so long ago, I said that I loved him. 

I m thankful for the external supports that I have, but all the external supports in the world—love and kindness and understanding—won t help if it doesn t come from within. It s the internal supports that are critical. 

The hardest part for me is the inability to do as much as I used to. I used to be very active. I loved to drive automobiles, and could drive for hours and hours and not get tired. I d drive all over the state. Now it s a major chore just to get into Seattle and back. And I don t have the energy to walk on the beach or that kind of thing. I work, go home and go to sleep. Even that is difficult at times. 

Besides a medical degree I also hope to achieve other goals that are important to me. One day I d like to have a piece of land, and buy or build a little house in the wilderness—maybe a straw-bale house—have a deck, or a living room with big windows, where I could locate my bed to be close to the moon at night. I also hope to find a special man to love and marry, and to have a family. I ve spent a lot of time with children, as an aunt and as a nanny, and I enjoy the kind of unconditional love that children can express so easily. 

Hush, child, hush you very bad, very wicked. God is good and kind and loving. He not try us any more than we can bear He send us help soon if we trust in Him. ... 

They do all that for me, Julie Benoit the thief You tell the lady it is I who steal her money but she forgive and have my mother buried like a Christian. She have her taken into church where the priest will bless her and pray over her. She have her buried where I can go and kneel beside her grave and tell her that I love her still and that I forget her never, no never. The lady do all that for me who steal her money. But she is good, she is kind to forgive me. ... 

As this experience passed behind us, the girl and I became even closer friends. We never made love again it was not really the relationship that suited us. She remembered nothing of the events on the roof About a week after all this was over, I told her my impression of what had happened. She was amazed but accepting. I did not know what had happened. I christened the obsidian fluid we had generated "luv," something more than love, something less than love, perhaps not love at all, but some kind of unplumbed potential human experience very little is known about. 

And if you slant backwards to the left, which most people do not, you have some emotional issues that force you to be more withdrawn. You re the kind of person who would say, "Honey, I told you I loved you last week. Why do I have to tell you I love you again " You re very logical, almost cold at times.
