The periodic boundary conditions in loop 3 contain 2 branches. Vectorization was achieved by using the FORTRAN callable vector merge function. 

This indicates that we need 0ad > 4 for there to be real roots. The roots correspond to the critical temperature excess at the points of ignition (lower root) and extinction (upper root) respectively. As 0ad is decreased towards the transitional value ad.trans = 4, so the two turning points approach each other and merge as the hysteresis loop unfolds (Fig. 5.6). 

The electrospinning of poly(s-caprolactone) (PCL) solutions have been reported by Reneker et al. [74]. They varied the PCL solution concentrations between 14 and 18 wt%. The instability in the electrospinning of PCL results in the contact and merging of segments in different loops of the electrospinning jet to form garlandlike fibrous structures [74]. Yoshimoto et al. [75] have studied the potential of electrospun PCL fiber mats for use in bone tissue engineering. They found that the... 

Patterns exist for workflow elements such as merging, synchronization points, loops, and cancellation. At the more complex end of the spectrum, there are patterns that deal with multiple instances of a task, either specified at design time or generated on demand at run time. 

Finally, it should be stressed that there are some specific strategies that can strongly influence sample dispersion in flow injection analysis, e.g., merging zones, zone sampling, stream splitting and closed-loop arrangements. These strategies are discussed in Chapter 7.
