Loads stacking

Vibrations from tracked earthmoving equipment can travel through the soil and cause the walls of nearby excavations to collapse. Nearly every rainy season in southern California, homes slide down hUls because wet and saturated soils can no longer support the loads. Stacking cartons too high may cause the carton at the bottom to collapse. Then the... [Pg.106]

These Green Pellets are loaded/stacked in molybdenum containers (open)/boats and sintered at high temperature under reducing atmosphere for further densification to achieve at least 96% of the theoretical density of UO2 pellets. To ensure uniform surface finish and diameter, these pellets are centerless ground and inspected for physical integrity, density, purity, surface defects to meet the specifications. [Pg.31]

In cases where conventional systems of individual sack loading are ruled out, palletizing is often applied, i.e., the sacks are assembled into unit loads (stacks) on pallets by machines. These loads are placed in intermediate storage, from where they are removed with the aid of fork-lift trucks and loaded into vehicles for despatch. In the storage areas, the palletized loads have to be stacked... [Pg.256]

Lift trucks are designed to carry, lift, load, stack, push, or tier product and material. It takes a great deal of skill and ability to be able to efficiently and safely operate equipment. [Pg.149]

Keep loads stacked as low as possible. Overloaded pallets can easily strike the top of a trailer while entering. Dislodged product can easily fall back onto the operator or someone else. [Pg.155]

Designing tandem cells is complex. For example, each cell must transmit efficiently the insufficiently energetic photons so that the contacts on the backs of the upper cells are transparent to these photons and therefore caimot be made of the usual bulk metal layers. Unless the cells in a stack can be fabricated monolithically, ie, together on the same substrate, different external load circuits must be provided for each cell. The thicknesses and band gaps of individual cells in the stack must be adjusted so that the photocurrents in all cells are equal. Such an optimal adjustment is especially difficult because the power in different parts of the solar spectmm varies under ambient conditions. Despite these difficulties, there is potential for improvement in cell conversion efficiency from tandem cells. [Pg.469]

The adhesive-coated veneers are then stacked in the correct order (thickness and number of pHes) to make the desired product and sent to a cold press. The pressure appHed by the cold press assures uniform adhesive distribution across the pHes and fliU adhesion later. From the cold press the assembly is moved to a hot press. The hot presses have up to 50 openings between steam heated plates. Depending on the thickness of the plywood being manufactured, one or more (up to three) layers of uncured plywood assembHes are loaded into each opening. The press is closed and pressure of 1.2—1.38 MPa (175—200 psi) and temperatures of 110—166°C are appHed for the period of time needed to cure the adhesive. The cured plywood panels are removed... [Pg.318]

Trays may be square or rectangular, with 0.5 to I m" per tray, and may be fabricated from any material compatible with corrosion and temperature conditions. When the trays are stacked in the truck, there should be a clearance of not less than 4 cm between the material in one tray and the bottom of the tray immediately above. When material characteristics and handling permit, the trays should have screen bottoms for additional diying area. Metal trays are preferable to nonmetalhc trays, since they conduct heat more readily. Tray loadings range usually from I to 10 cm deep. [Pg.1190]

Design Principles An individual fuel cell will generate an electrical potential of about 1 V or less, as discussed above, and a current that is proportional to the external load demand. For practical apph-cations, the voltage of an individual fuel cell is obviously too small, and cells are therefore stacked up as shown in Fig. 27-61. Anode/ electrolyte/cathode assemblies are electrically connected in series by inserting a bipolar plate between the cathode of one cell and the anode of the next. The bipolar plate must be impervious to the fuel... [Pg.2410]

A particulate sample was found to weigh 0.0216 gm. The sample volume from which it was collected was 0.60 at 60°C, 760 mm Hg absolute, and 90% relative humidity. What was the stack loading in milligrams per standard cubic meter ... [Pg.553]

The store floor should be level. A load-bearing surface (concrete, paved or compacted) is required where cylinders are to be stacked. [Pg.292]
