Etching, liquid

Plasma etching has demonstrated viable solutions to essentially all the problems encountered with liquid etching. Adhesion does not appear to be critical with dry etching techniques. In addition, undercutting can be... [Pg.216]

Liquid etching has been the preferred method for pattern delineation for thin films for many years (I). Its pervasive use has been due primarily to two considerations. First, although the exact chemistry is often poorly understood, the technology of liquid etching is firmly established. Second, the selectivity (ratio of film etch rate to the etch rate of the underlying film or substrate) can be essentially infinite with the proper choice of etchant solution. [Pg.386]

FIGURE 5.5.36 Schematic of step-and-flash imprint lithography (S-FIL). (a) A photocurable liquid (etch barrier) is dispersed between a transparent template and substrate, (b) The gap between the template and the substrate is closed to create a thin resist layer, (c) The backside of the template is illuminated with UV light to cure the resist, (d) The template is removed, leaving behind the imprinted features, (e) An anisotropic etch removes the base layer and transfers the pattern into the substrate. Studies have shown that concerns about exactly how wet the surface needs to be can be overcome by rubbing the liquid etch-and-rinse adhesive into the dentine surface [36-39], This causes the liquid adhesive to infiltrate the newly cut surface, regardless of its moisture content, or the nature of the solvent used in the adhesive. This results in good bond strengths [36-39] and highly durable adhesion in patients [40],... [Pg.96]

Most of the contaminants can be removed by an aqueous detergent wash or by other solvent cleaning possibly associated with mild liquid etching. However, care must be taken with cleaning fluids because they may be adsorbed into the polymer structure causing it to swell and possibly to craze on drying. [Pg.6097]

MORTAR. In laboratory tests, conventional mortars react with aluminum alloys in the same manner as cement and concrete. While the mortar is liquid, etching of aluminum alloys occurs but the reaction stops after the mortar sets. It is good engineering practice to protect the aluminum from crevice corro-... [Pg.622]
