Liquid color applications

Mixing Liquids. Carriers like mineral oil and plastisol are typical. Mineral oil is used in a variety of liquid color application. Plastisols find use in calendered and slush-molded PVC applications. The process provides good mixing but a low level of dispersion. Some of these blends are suitable for end-use appHcations. Most are milled to provide a higher quality of dispersion.

Transmittance and reflectance data are used in color measurements. Transmittance spectra are used for liquid color measurements, while reflectance spectra are used on solid samples (powders, surfaces) and on opaque liquids (paint). A large number of color scales are in use today. Some are specific to a particular industry, while others enjoy broader application. The most common scales are the CIE L a b (Commission... 

Liquid colors can be used in injection molding and extrusion. Thin films usually require large amounts of color and so are not usually made with liquid color. Thick films and sheet are suitable applications for Liquid. Usually, 1-3% is the practical limit for a letdown ratio, but liquids have been used up to 8% in special circumstances. For letdown ratios of 1 % and less, liquid color is often the preferred method of coloring or introducing additives.
