In a series of papers, Westphal and his collaborators have reported on many different strains, using phenol-extracted lipopolysaccharides the physical properties were fully described, the antigenic and serological properties were reported, and some of the sugar compositions were given. The product of Escherichia coli 08 was described in the most detail the material was composed of 26 % of lipide and 74% of polysaccha-... 

The 45 Citrohacter serotypes investigated were classified into chemotypes according to the sugar composition of their lipopolysaccharides. Thus, 20 Citrohacter chemotypes were identified, of which 11 proved to be identical with chemotypes occuring in Salmonella or E, coli. The other 9 Citrohacter chemotypes do not occur in these genera. In Table 6 they have been designated as Citrohacter chemotypes (CC-) A, B, C...

Recent applications of HPAEC-PAD are many and varied.
