Lead iodides

Lead Iodide. Lead diiodide, Pbl2, forms a powder of yellow hexagonal crystals some physical properties are given in Table 1. Lead diiodide is soluble in alkaUes and potassium iodide, and insoluble in alcohol. It is made by treating a water-soluble lead compound with hydroiodic acid or a soluble metal iodide. It is readily purified by recrystaUization in water. [Pg.68]

Fluorine decomposes calcium iodide, lead iodide, mercury iodide and potassium iodide at ambient temperature, and the liberated iodine ignites, evolving much heat. [Pg.1516]

Background Lead iodide is relatively insoluble, with a solubility of less than 0.002 M at 20°C. Lead iodide dissolved in water is represented as ... [Pg.285]

If lead iodide is in a state of equilibrium in solution, the product of the molar concentration of lead ions times the square of the molar concentration of the iodide ions will be equal to a constant. This constant does not depend upon how the state of equilibrium was achieved. [Pg.285]

The ASTM-EFA standard method of analyzing lead In gasoline requires extraction of alkyl lead Iodide complexes Into methyllsobutylketone and a subsequent flame atomic absorption analysis of the extract A more direct method has been proposed ( ) which uses Zeeman atomic absorption analysis after sample dilution. Both methods were used to analyze a set of five field collected samples. The results showed a bias (average difference between method results) of 0.0012 g/gal with the standard flame results higher. The correlation coefficient between the results was 0.9998 0.0009, and a pairwise t-test showed no difference between the methods (6). [Pg.112]

Because I was able to determine that A contained K2Cr04 and B contained NaOH, by default flask C must contain Nal. I would mix samples from flask C with samples from flasks Y and Z. Since lead iodide (Pbl2) is a yellow precipitate, the flask when mixed with sample from flask C that produced a yellow precipitate would contain PbtNOslj. [Pg.165]

The iodide also forms additive compound with pyridine, such as dipyridino-lead iodide, [Pb(C5HsN)2]I2, and tripyridino-lead iodide. [Pb(C5H5N)3]I2.4... [Pg.68]
