Knowledge gathering techniques

Employers must develop in-house capability to investigate incidents that occur in their facilities. A team should be assembled by the employer and trained in the techniques of investigation, including how to conduct interviews of witnesses, assemble needed documentation, and write reports. A multidisciplinary team is better able to gather the facts of the event and to analyze them and develop plausible scenarios as to what happened and why. Team members should be selected on the basis of their training, knowledge, and ability to contribute to a team effort to fully investigate the incident. 

A large number of methods have been established to address the gathering structural information. Some are based on the biophysical properties of the studied molecules, others on their chemical composition. A most important final step is to properly relate the structural knowledge to the inferred functionality. Currently, X-ray crystallography is the predominant technique for 3D structure determination, owing to its now practical simplicity, ease, and high level of automation as compared to the formerly tedious and time...

In method optimization, the range between the levels is much larger than in robustness tests. Often, the range selected for a factor in optimization represents the broadest interval in which the factor can be varied with the technique considered. In practice, the examined range is chosen based on earlier gathered knowledge and/or information from the literature. 

In an attempt to get a better knowledge of tire surface chemistry of carbons, a combination of theories and data obtained from different techniques should be considered, so as to get an accurate or at least coherent picture of the carbon surface. A brief review of the most common available techniques for the characterization of the carbon surface is gathered in the following sections. In this section, the emphasis is placed on the different surface functionalities that can be found on carbons and their effect on the amphoteric character (acidic or basic nature) of the carbons. 

The benefits of these advanced techniques will be an improved knowledge of protein-binding interactions and trafficking in Dictyostelium.
