By -scission, the alkoxy radical may give a chain ketone (detected at 1725 cm-1) and an end-chain aromatic ketone (1690 cm-1). The -scissions are accompanied by the formation of a benzyl and an alkyl radical. The former is the precursor of benzene and the latter isomerizes to a tertiary radical.
