Despite the low lipid content in seaweed, their fat contains high level of vitamin E. Generally, brown seaweeds contain more a-tocopherol (also p- and y-tocopherols) than red and green algae which contain only a-tocopherol. The highest amount of vitamin E was detected in kelp Macrocystis pyrifera, 32.77 mg/100 g fat (a-tocopherol), with total tocol content of 145.72 mg/100 g fat, and in Ulva lactuca with y-tocopherol value...
