S100A12 is associated with several pathological states including psoriasis (together with S100A7), inflammation, Mooren s ulcer, an autoimmune disease of the human cornea, and Kawasaki s disease, an acute multisystem vasculitits, occurring in children usually under 5 years of age (Table 2). 

Other situations Situations such as a pheochro-mocytomaand coronary arteritis secondary to systemic diseases, as Takayasu s disease, Kawasaki s disease, Churg-Strauss syndrome, etc., may generate myocardial ischaemia, ACS and even a myocardial infarction. This is also the case for patients with AIDS that often present diffuse and severe atherosclerotic lesions. 

It has been proposed that SAgs might contribute to the pathogenesis of noninfectious diseases by activating T cells that are specific for self-antigens. Early reports observed VP-specific enrichments of T cells in different diseases, such as Kawasaki s disease (KD) and autoimmune disease.
