It was shown that Cyt c concentration decrease in blood of pathological state of cancer. The greater days carcinoma develops the less concentration of Cyt c in semm of mice. 

Almost anyone who has at some time in his life met some reverses is familiar with depression. In the normal course of events, changing circumstances will soon lead to the replacement of this state of mind by a more pleasant one. There exist, however, a set of pathologic states in which depression feeds on itself in a destructive cycle. Individuals affected with this syndrome— whether precipitated by outside events or not—eventually find it most difficult to function. The advent of antidepressant drugs, first the MAO inhibitors and more recently the tricyclic antidepressants, have made this syndrome amenable to treatment. 

One of the plasma proteins which is mainly responsible for the plasma protein binding of drugs. Its level is known to be elevated in some pathological states, such as inflammation.

Reliable measurements of L-lactate are of great interest in clinical chemistry, the dairy and vine industry, biotechnology, or sport medicine. In particular, blood lactate levels are indicative of various pathological states, including shock, respiratory insufficiencies, and heart and liver diseases. Silica sol-gel encapsulation of the lactate dehydrogenase and its cofactor was employed as a disposable sensor for L-lactate51. The sensor utilized the changes in absorbance or fluorescence from reduced cofactor nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) upon exposure to L-lactate. 

It is not the purpose of this article to review all dehydrogenases that are known at present and not even all of those that have been described in human tissues and body fluids. A few of them have been selected that are of importance for diagnostic, prognostic or, as therapy controlling tools or, that are known as etiologic factors of pathological states. 

There are a variety of pathological states in which the action of collagenases is strongly suspected. Some of these disease states are considered briefly below. Since current knowledge concerning the cellular source of the collagenases in these states is often conflicting, a discussion of this subject has been purposely avoided. Instead, possible sources are simply mentioned. 

The pK value indicates the pH range in which the dissociation of the H" occurs. More specifically, the pK is the pH at which the group is 50% dissociated, or half of it is in the acid form and half in the base form. These values of pK are used in determining the net charge a substance (amino acid, protein, drug) will have in the body and which ones will act as good buffers to keep the pH constant, and to understand pathologic states of acidosis and alkalosis. 

Liver sends triglycerides to adipose tissue packaged as very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL reviewed later in this chapter). A small amount of triglyceride may be stored in the liver. Accumulation of significant triglyceride in tissues other than adipose tissue usually indicates a pathologic state.
