The large and widespread production of plutonium in nuclear power stations combined with its high radiotoxicity has caused great public concern about "plutonium poisoning". Consequently, the spread of plutonium in the environment has been extensively studied for several decades. The results have been reported in journals and more recently in a number of monographs and conference proceedings (e.g. L- 7). ... [Pg.275]

Wehmer also gives preliminary answers to the question of what species might be suitable sources of a definite compound or product—the type of question that arises when substitute raw materials must be found in times of economic stress or dislocation. Thus, he gives 31 references to the occurrence of berberine in different plants. Apart from sources familiar to all chemists, such as abstract journals, additional references for information of this type can be found in monographs on alkaloids 6, 12),... [Pg.122]

When a publishing house (Izdatelstvo) plans to issue a book, monograph, journal, or other printed material, the Glavizdat provides it with information about the possible volume of sale derived either on the basis of a survey or past performance. The format, size of the edition, required paper, ink, and binding supplies are worked out, and time schedules are set for the delivery of the product by the publisher to the Glavizdat. The date of delivery, quality, packaging, etc., are embodied in a contract secured by penalty clauses. The Glavizdat supplies... [Pg.160]

The recommended dosage of herbal medicines in Poland is in compliance with the dosage presented in Herbal Monographs, edited by Commission E of the Ministry of Health in Germany. The registration dossier requirements depend on the type of products. Major requirements, published in the Regulatory Affairs Journal, January 1997, for all categories are as follows ... [Pg.481]

The decision of a national authority to allow a biowaiver based on the BCS should take into consideration the solubility and permeability characteristics as well as the therapeutic use and therapeutic index of the API, its pharmacokinetic properties, the similarity of the dissolution profiles of the multisource and the comparator products in standard buffers with a pH of 1.2, pH 4.5 and pH 6.8 at 37 °C. Data related to the excipients composition in the multisource product are also required. A systematic approach to the biowaiver decision has been established by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences (http //www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/jhome/68503813). The relevant documents can also be downloaded from the FIP web site at http //www.fip.org/. These monographs provide detailed information which should be taken into account whenever available in the biowaiver consideration. [Pg.398]

Marine natural products have been extensively reviewed in many monographs and journals (1-17). Kobayashi and Ishibashi have reviewed marine alkaloids in general in this series (16), and our recent review (17) provides an account of toxic alkaloids of marine origin. This chapter is intended to provide the reader a brief description of the isolation, structure elucidation, synthetic studies, and biological screening of important classes of steroidal alkaloids and amines of marine origin. [Pg.234]

Bronislaw Znatowicz (1851-1917), chemist, professor at Warsaw University, co-founder and first editor-in-chief of the journal Chemik Polski, author and translator of chemical textbooks and monographs. He investigated the reduction and nitration of aromatic compounds and the production of dyes from tar, and studied the phenomenon of phosphorescence and electrolysis of organic compounds. [Pg.243]
