Joints types

Type 304-19/10 (chromium nickel) provides a stable austenitic structure under all conditions of fabrication. Carbon (0.08% max.) is sufficient to have reasonable corrosion resistance without subsequent corrosion resistance for welded joints. Type 304 is used for food, dairy and brewery equipment, and for chemical plants of moderate corrosive duties. [Pg.71]

The specified lap of each joint type shall be fully inserted for alignment and maximum strength at the joint. [Pg.60]

If unbalanced layouts cannot be avoided, appropriate analytical methods must be apphed to assure adequate flexibility. If the designer determines that a piping system does not have adequate inherent flexibility, additional flexibility may be provided by adding bends, loops, offsets, swivel joints, corrugated pipe, expansion joints of the bellows or slip-joint type, or other devices. Suitable anchoring must be provided. [Pg.114]

The BPV Code should be consulted to determine the allowed joint types for a particular vessel. Any pressure vessel containing lethal substances will require full radiographic testing of all butt welds. [Pg.983]

End type (screw, flange, welding, etc.). If flange end, specify raised face or ring-joint type. [Pg.320]

It should be noted that all the thermometers listed above except the ground-joint type (Fig. 363) are calibrated for total immersion in other words, they read correctly only when the whole of the mercury thread is at the measured temperature. Short thermometer wells can thus give rise to appreciable errors. According to Piatti and Marti [20] the error is small only if the mercury bulb is just immersed in the oil in the well. In practice, total immersion thermometers should be mounted so as to be completely immersed in the vapour or liquid, although the ease of reading is thereby adver.sely affected. Otherwise a correction for emergent stem has to be applied (r/. [Pg.441]

Joint Type. There are several basic joint configurations where FSW can be applied. These different joint configurations can affect the requirements of the FSW machine. The following lists the joint configurations and their effects on the machine requirements. [Pg.220]

For FSSW and FSP, there are no joint types. However, in relahon to FSW, FSP has charac-terishcs sinular to a parhal-penetrahon buh weld. For FSSW, the joint type can be equated to a lap-penetrahon joint. However, with the speeds at which fiichon shr spot welds must be made in most produchon applications, the force requirements for FSSW are significanhy higher than for FSW in the same thickness and alloy combinahon. [Pg.221]

The third part, titled specific information, could be quite lengthy, and no specific length limitations should be imposed. In this part, short summaries of information acquired from individual sources should be provided. It is important to write these summaries in such a form that it will be easy later to find major concepts and known realization of these concepts (which will be related to symbolic attributes). The identified concepts will eventually lead us to symbolic attributes, while examples of realizations will provide information about the feasible values of these symbolic attributes. For example, in the case of joints in timber floor trusses, we may identify such concepts as truss joint or joint plate and such examples of realizations as steel joint plate or nails. These concepts may lead to such symbolic attributes as joint type, joint plate material, and connectors type. ... [Pg.149]

There are also joints that, because of the interruption of works or emergency joints (as will be explained later), do not constitute a separate joint type. The longitudinal construction joints are warping joints. [Pg.606]
