Jetstar

JETSTAR Plasmid Lit (Genomed, ImTec, Antwerpen, Belgium). [Pg.234]

JETSTAR Plasmid Kit (GENOMED) plasmid isolation kit, based alkaline lysis of the bacterial cell. Chromosomal DNA sticks to the cell wall and coprecipitates with the cell debris, whereas plasmid DNA remains solubilized. An anion exchange resin, provided in columns, binds the plasmid DNA under high salt conditions, the DNA is washed and eluted in low salt conditions. The solutions are provided in the kit El (cell resuspension buffer 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 8.0, 10 mMEDTA), E2 (cell lysis solution 200 mM NaOH, 1% SDS), E3 (neutralization buffer 3.2 M KOAc/HOAc, pH 5.5), E4 (column equilibration... [Pg.236]

This chapter discusses the theory and practice of normal operations monitoring, particularly fleet transition, through the looking glass of Australia s immensely successful low cost carrier, Jetstar. The chapter firstly provides an overview of fleet... [Pg.51]

Many operational benefits of a new fleet equate into economic benefits when the aircraft enters service. Using Jetstar as an example, the airline from July 2004 commenced a transition from 14 Boeing 717-200s to 23 Airbus A320 aircraft. [Pg.52]

Increased endttrance or range allowing for new sectors previously out of reach of the 717 such as Melboume-Caims and trans-Tasman sectors to Christchurch using Jetstar s ETOPS certification and... [Pg.52]

Since Jetstar started, aircraft capacity has grown more than at any other time in the Australian airline industry (see Table 6.1). Interestingly, the market is estimated to be able to absorb four to five per cent. [Pg.52]

Older aircraft like the before DC-9s and classic 737s have higher maintenance costs, increased fuel bum and hmited flexibility in today s de-regulated and volatile airline industry. Transitioning to new aircraft would have an inunediate impact on fuel and tnainteiiaiice costs and provide airlines such as Jetstar the flexibihty to change its network as market demands ehange. [Pg.53]

The plarming for and investment into new aircraft is an ongoing and expensive operation. Every aspect of the airline s operation has to be looked at to ensirre the aircraft fits the airline s operation and business model. For low-cost, price-sensitive airlines sirch as Jetstar, making the right decision on its fleet is the foimdation of the airline s success. [Pg.54]

Ensuring the required equipment is available and delivered, a ground handling agent is in place, trained to Jetstar requirements, and the airport terminal and apron is set up to accept the A320 are all integral tasks airports must manage before a new aircraft introduction. [Pg.56]

Overcoming the Short-Medium-Term Problems of Fleet Transition Future Jetstar transition... [Pg.57]

Significantly, there have been multiple new entrants to the domestic market since privatization (e.g.. Virgin Blue and Jetstar), indicating that competition has not... [Pg.881]
